Well, in this case you're merely putting a claim out there without even so much as pointing to the hint of a proof/example .. not very convincing.

Exampe: there was a time, maybe 5-6 years ago, when I though bitcoin was a huge waste of energy .. and I looked for alternative concepts ... and I found something called "timekoin" .. it sounded promising but never picked up any momentum .. back then, #timekoin has been my example I'd point people to when I talked about alternatives.

Well, with all your concerns about bitcoin, you probably see that bitcoin having been around now quite a few years kind of loosely suggests that there is some stability (even if the price is quite volatile) in the system ... yes, alternatives have the additional burden of overcoming bitcoin's first mover advantage, but you see this hurdle everywhere in other fields, so it's not a good argument.
The supposedly "better" alternatives will simply have to proove their worth over the years.

I'm not a "hardcore bitcoiner" btw, don't even own any.

If enough people heard of them and came to the conclusion that they are indeed better ways they might actually replace bitcoin.

I'm not sure whether the help hashtag is commonly and widely regarded as specifically for fediverse related enquiries.

My humble opinion would be that "help" is too unspecific to be a useful hashtag at least in this context.

Why not use "fediverseHelp" instead?

What do you mean by "humanity-organism"? That humanity as a whole can be understood as one organism?

Hasn't this humanity-organism been aging from the very beginning on?

In a way I'd say that this humanity-organism should systemically be much closer to an immortal organism (because of adaptation/evolution) than individual humans.

Wenn die meisten Leute beim Klicken durch die Mediatheken oder beim Knipsen eines Fotos/Videos die maximale verfügbare Auflösung/Bitrate wählen, dann dreht sich die Spirale munter weiter.
Dann stellen die IT-Abteilungen der Sender bzw der CDNs fest: hoppla, die NutzerInnen haben ja fast schon wieder unsere Kapazität ausgelastet, da müssen wir nach legen. Und zack steht irgendwo stärkere oder mehr Hardware .. nur weil die Leute offensichtlich nix ungewöhnliches dabei sehen, die Hautporen der DiskutantInnen bei ner Talkshow betrachten zu können.

Man muss aber auch sagen, dass zB. die PodcasterInnen ne Teilschuld haben. Bei den meisten Podcasts hab ich kaum eine Wahl, welche bitrate/Qualität ich möchte. Ich erinnere mich an eine Folge von "Alles Gesagt" #AllesGesagt (glaube ausgerechnet mit Luisa Neubauer), in der die Beteiligten den Ressourcenhunger von Internetangeboten und Streaming beklagt haben. Die versenden regelmäßig Podcast-Folgen mit mehreren Hundert MB (klar, sind auch ein paar Stunden lang) ... aber man könnte die auch locker auf 1/3 runter codieren, ohne dass der Hörgenuss leiden würde. Die haben den Schalter um dran zu drehen, aber beschweren sich drüber. Hach ja.

Mein Telefon hat ne 20 MP Kamera, aber ich mache "nur 8 MP" Fotos und natürlich skaliere ich selbst die ordentlich runter bevor ich eins verschicke.

Mal ins Verhältnis setzten zu Streamingangebot/TV-Sendung/Sportveranstaltung xy wahlweise in 4K oder so ... da dürfte sich die typische Mail putzig klein ausmachen im Vergleich.

Es mutet fast schon wie ein Wahn an, wie alles in immer höherer Auflösung/Bitrate beteit gestellt wird.

Wozu bei ner Talkshow? Wozu einen Podcast in Dolby whatever.

Ich lade jedes Video aus der Mediathek in der niedrigsten Qualität herunter. Und codiere jeden Podcast automatisch um in 28 kbit/s Opus Audio.

As to corporations/individuals buying big proportions of land.
This is indeed a serious problem everywhere and there are enough examples: Bill Gates, Albrecht brothers (Germany), ...
I am absolutely sure that this problem is so fundamental, that it must be adressed by democratic societies on the constitutional level soon.
Seems to me that more and more people are becoming aware of the underlying dynamics and that there ought to be juristic measures to counteract the accumulation of land in the hands of few people and the negative consequences it has for societies.

@dsfgs could you point me to a good text which explains how this amazon system works and why it's so problematic?

I do understand the keywords ... "proprietary, monopoly, surveillance, ..." but would simply like to read about what it does, how it works so I can see that it's so problematic. ... thanks.

Es wird da allerdings - anders als die Überschrift nahe legt (Wow, Qualitätsjournalismus, lieber DLF) - keine Zahl zum Gewinn genannt. Es wird lediglich ein Umsatz von 7,4 Milliarden Euro für das erste Halbjahr 2021 angegeben.

Wahrscheinlich bleibt davon aber eben noch genügend übrig, dass es tatsächlich ein Milliardengewinn ist.

If I could make #manyverse use the external SD card storage instead of the internal memory, that'd practically eliminate the problem for me.
