There were just 3 deaths recorded today. Mondays are always low though (reflecting weekend reporting). This is a record post-peak low though. But the average is not quite as low as we got to a few days ago,

#Ceredigion is the disappointment, for me, in today's figures. It's not bad, but with another 3 cases, it just shows how difficult it is to stamp out those last few. Of course, it is possible that this is due to increased testing - Hywel Dda broadened their range of symptoms for recommending a test. However, today's best news county - Pembrokeshire (zero cases) is in the same health board area.
See https://portalcovidcymru.co.uk/map.html for locations within county.

"Gwnewch y pethau bychain."
Today is Dydd Gŵyl Dewi, St. David's Day, a day of celebration and culture in #Wales. St. David is know for the saying the above, which translates as "do the little things."
David's philosophy means to take care in the small things that impact you and the people around you. None of us are perfect, but we can all be mindful.
Happy St. David's Day, and ponder the little things.
Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
The dramatic increase in the rate of fall of cases seen the last 2 days seems to be maintained, so it really looks like there's been a turnaround.
The deaths trend creeps up slightly.
247 cases is low for a Sunday. The next lowest of recent times was last Sunday, at 336. Given that this dramatic fall has been observed for 3 consecutive days, I think we can now assume it's real (unless something's badly wrong at PHW).
7-day average: 277 - DOWN 12

Normally, I would be trusting the 0.94 figure, which comes from the same spreadsheet row as yesterday's 0.94 estimate. However, that would ignore the equivalent row for today's data only on the grounds that it looks too low to me. Given the drop we're seeing in publication date data, it's likely that 0.88 is closer. The 0.88 figure is calculated on sample date data from the 11 days to 23rd.
Positivity is 5.1%, which although up on yesterday's 4.1% is still the 2nd lowest of recent times.

#Ceredigion reports 4 new cases, which these days is a high figure for the county. These are:
1: Aberystwyth N
1: Aberystwyth S
1: Rheidol, Ystwyth & Caron
1: Lampeter & Llanfihangel Ystrad
https://portalcovidcymru.co.uk/map.html
7-day average: 2.43 - UP 0.43
Topping the table today are:
2: Blaenau Gwent
2: Penfro
3: Mynwy
As well as the above, a number of others beat Ceredigion per capita today: Abertawe, Caerdydd, Dinbych, Caerfyrddin, Rhondda, Pen-Y-Bont, Bro Morgannwg.

Hi everyone -- I'm new to scholar.social and Mastodon. I'm a college student studying social theory and philosophy, with an eye towards data ethics. I'm based in the US and join this instance in hopes of finding a space online that makes me feel comfortable sharing personal opinions. I also hope to get to know more people, if possible.
I'll probably be posting quotes and thoughts from school readings. Currently reading Freud (@_@) and ethics of nudging.

Surviving an Execution in Medieval England and Modern Ohio: Miracle, or Incompetence?
Barbaric. Ammoral. Immoral.
Vengeance not justice.

Lawmakers, politicians and judges: may God have mercy on their souls, because they are the criminals in those cases. They are the easily identified killers. The victims of the courts are *maybe* killers.
And, even so, you, the public, are executioners and killers in kind. Of innocents.
Sick.
Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
Today's figures are again looking better, with cases being unusually low for a Friday. Patterns in the data have been very irregular of late, so it's more important than ever to look at longer term trends.
There were 308 cases reported today. Last time Friday had an unusually low figure (5th Feb), Saturday followed with an unusually high one, so I wouldn't be surprised to see 500+ tomorrow.
7-day average: 313 - DOWN 32

Positivity is at a new record (post-peak) low of 5.5%, and although a cruder measure of progress, it is also less susceptible to day-to-day noise.
R (estimate 1 - publication date data): 0.88 - DOWN 0.07
R (estimate 2 - sample date data): 0.95 - UNCHANGED (yesterday's 0.94 was revised upwards when the 4pm data came out)
Big changes in R like this (estimate 1) don't just happen in a day. This is why I expect a correction tomorrow.
2/4
Claims that R is in the region 0.7-0.9 (https://walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/coronavirus-wales-doctors-hospitals-cases-19919666) seem to me to be an underestimate; I believe it to be somewhere between 0.93 and 0.97, judging mainly by the more stable sample date (estimate 2) data.
There were 16 deaths recorded today. That's the same as last Friday, so the averages remain the same.
7-day average: 13.57 - UNCHANGED

#Ceredigion saw 4 new cases, which is the highest in the county for a week. Denbighshire and Môn both do better, with 3 cases. Penfro (5) comes top per capita.
See https://portalcovidcymru.co.uk/map.html for cases locations by the more local MSOA regions.

@freemo It might be easier once people realize that everybody starts out destined to be female. But because of the information in their chromosomes (or rather, the lack thereof, especially in the Y-chromosome), the XY-people (let's not delve in the more than 2 chromosomes now) get a larger amount of testosteron, turning them into males.
But... sometimes that genetic information is borked, so you do have XY-people with feminine traits or XX-people with masculine traits.
And then you have people who are just inbetween. Not enough of this, not enough of that.
So, even though we're usually being thought that there is only 'male' and 'female'... it's in reality 50 shades of sex. 😋
But eh, that requires reading or watching educational programmes. That's too much effort to most people. Science is scary, y'know? :P
