@euractiv CSU's Manfred Weber accusing anyone of double standards is like a pigeon accusing a penguin of flying. The man that embraced Berlusconi, Orban and Borisov as moderates...

All ACL events should start with a presentation of this comic strip

@ianwelsh true words. I've gone through this, being engaged with street protests in my country for decades. I've been through dispair and detachment. Have been out of the struggle and back in, then out again, and back in again. These types of battles are marathons, not sprints. I guess I've managed to convince myself that one should find the limits of one's resources and and take care not to trespass them. But when one has the forces, these emotions need to transform in action.

PS: Did you know that with 4 Bulgaria could have been a record holder for governments taken down by mass street protests in a decade. More recently, we've had 4 parliamentary elections in 2 years. Things are happening, one way or another.

Contemporary Germany has always been slow to react, but apparently continues to show itself as capable of reflection. These delayed reactions have turned out fatal for many innocent Palestinians.

@Mathias @HxxxKxxx if it's information that has renewed relevance, this is the only way to attract new attention to it.

Then important replies might deserve a life of their own.

@bozho аз ще се въздържам от повече коментари за днес :/

I looked up a hardware problem with kid's laptop yesterday and AI-generated "content" is already grit in the gears of the online world. 🤨

@mutinyc - I think folks need to understand that within a number of years, AI-generated "content" will be the microplastic of our online ecosystem.

@euractiv a good example of how currently national politics block EU policies. If the EU does not want to become as dysfunctional as the UN, it should reform how its majorities are formed now

@eloquence
Lots of communities are far away from the passions of Silicon valley and still have their close ones on Twitter and Facebook.

Here's an example:

I tried to explain it elsewhere, but the conversation spiralled downwards. I'm ashamed of it, but that conversation was such a failure, there must be a lesson to be drawn from it:

@Fragglemuppet I have this inner struggle: what could one do about (abstract) artwork. Arguably, it's content that cannot be translated across media. Not a reason not to try, but what particular part is meaningful to communicate?

Case in point
vis.social/@TomLarrow/11145183

@amydiehl In my ignorance, I struggle to believe someone took seriously the idea they could do sound research in the human sciences excluding women from the test cohort. What kind of deficiencies does such a thought process exhibit? It's not about prejudices, it's about cognitive failures.

@TomLarrow I love the alt texts. No irony, putting abstraction in words is an artistic expression of its own

@sanae How exactly is it new? I'm certainly ignorant on the topic, would appreciate a discussion to understand better.

So far to me it seems to be the same pattern of a group thinking they are more worthy of others because they are more successful by their (widely not appreciated by others?) criteria. At the same time their success is generally not related to a particular personal capabilities, but to resourcefulness and ever growing closeness.

Arguably this combination of self-deception and the drive to isolate from the external world as a way to maintain it, is the cause of many failures in history. Of course such failures take a lot of time, due to originally accumulated resources.

@pseudepigram why acyclic? Why maze without exit? Sorry for the out-of-context questions, but what's the context anyways
