trying to follow this instruction:
talk about the things you love, even if you think nobody cares.
people won't ask for it at least at first, but some of them will care
and it's attractive to see someone talk about the things they love.
let go of the notion that it's worthless if you don't get a minimum number of listeners, reactions, replies.
practice caring publicly about the things you care about.
I think this is a good reminder for me. I never liked being shy anyway
Finally launched my #FateCore space campaign. I'm the GM, but it seemed appropriate for me to make a character too. My high concept: passive-aggressive uplifted capybara. Also involved: two disgraced scientists, a stowaway underage bartender, a cyborg assassin, a space accountant, and a starship made by strapping two submarines together.
@the_owner_of_mastodon I'm too new to draw that distinction yet, but I suspect it's the latter.
Why is #R so aggressive with its abbreviations?
#2619 Crêpe
A medicine that makes you put two dots over your letters more often is a diäretic.

TIL: Apparently #R lets you use either `<-` or `=` for assignment.
Most other programming languages I've used use `=`, which is often confusing to students. They sometimes think `a = b` means that `a` will *always* equal `b`.
Digging into Wickham & Grolemund, *#R for Data Science*.
I'm a bit puzzled by the choice of ordering in this figure.

For added fun, this one is called Figure 1-1 in the printed version.
Got a rare opportunity to spin some fire on the beach!
Write Freely
is another type of server on the Fediverse
Its focus is entirely on long form text posts, so things like articles, essays, stories etc. It has a very minimalist interface which aims to be as distraction-free as possible, so that it's easier for readers to actually read.
You can follow Write Freely accounts from Mastodon etc because they are both on the Fediverse.
There's more info on the official site at https://writefreely.org and you can follow the project at @writefreely
You can get a Write Freely account from servers listed at https://writefreely.org/instances or at https://fedidb.org/software/writefreely
There are official apps at https://writefreely.org/apps

(Apologies for posting a link to The Site That Is Even Worse Than the Birdsite, but that's where the online fireknife community is.)
Playing The Crew: Mission Deep Sea with @htdrake. Very satisfying!
#2618 Selection Bias
We carefully sampled the general population and found that most people are familiar with acquiescence bias.

I Don't Exercise (my city does that for me, but for realz!)
I used to write other stuff in the description that introduced the video, but hardly anybody reads it anyway, especially now that YouTube has made it even harder to find in the new UI.
At least you can come here for references if you're really determined.
The fact that quae pro quibus "seems ridiculous, and hardly anyone would know what you mean" would, for some, be an argument in its favor.
The use of 'd for past tense rankles a bit, like using 's for a plural. One does have to allow "punk'd" and allusions thereto.
This reply is going in all directions, making it downright quaquaversal.
