@poxonus On the other hand, I'm disappointed with the official instruction materials:

1) The booklet that comes with the starter "Dorinthea vs Rhinar" isn't the rules, but the (completely ignorable?) lore.

2) They included a paper playmat, which is nice, but why wouldn't they print the turn sequence on it?

3) There are a couple of nice, short, "learn to play" videos and "quick start" rules that lay out the basic ideas ... and then a 100+ page official tournament rules document that reads like tax code. When I sit down to try to play, I'm lost in the VAST gulf in between.

Was this just poorly done, or was it a deliberate decision that the only way to learn this game is by word of mouth?

@tqbf It gave me nothing, but that might be related to the defederation kerfuffle. @freemo @trinsec

@poxonus This is the correct way to teach games (and many other things). Explain the minimal amount and then let the learner try it out.

@christian If you like it and get the craving for something more epic, Pandemic Legacy is quite good.

(Specifically, season 1 is very good, season 2 is okay, and the prequel season 0 may be the best.)

#2735 Coordinate Plane Closure

3D graphs that don't contact the plane in the closure area may proceed as scheduled, but be alert for possible collisions with 2D graph lines that reach the hole and unexpectedly enter 3D space.

Doctor: Well, there's nothing seriously wrong with your heart, but we should probably replace the strings and the cockles.

@LisaHornung A neat and visually striking idea!

I do have to wonder: why, especially after putting so much thought into graphic design, would someone put white text on a light gray background? It's nearly illegible.

Hey Oregonians, there is a state bill under consideration that would provide rebates for purchases of electric bikes, and comments are sought. I spent a few minutes writing to register my enthusiastic support for this bill. They’re taking testimony for only another day…speak up now! olis.oregonlegislature.gov/liz

“What’s the worst UI for a signature on an online form?”

Me: 🤔

History is written by the winners, which is why #Luddite is a slur meaning "technophobe" and not a badge of honor meaning, "Person who goes beyond asking what technology does, to asking who it does it *for* and who it does it *to*."

From the 104-page online comprehensive rulebook for the CCG Flesh and Blood:

"A card can only be included in a player’s deck if the
card’s supertypes are a subset of their hero’s supertypes."

@stevestreza
It follows the Stranger Danger evolution
Roughly,

1980- Don't get in cars with strangers
1995- Don't give out your personal information online
2010- Summon strangers from the internet so you can get in their car

2000-2005: Blogs are great and so are comments!
2005-2010: Blogs are still great but comments are not.
2010-Present: What if we didn't have blogs but just had a website full of nothing but comments?
