@Chiaroscuro In contrast, fish do not communicate with each other by tapping on the glass.

What’s the German word for that feeling when it snows all day but absolutely none of it sticks?

Bessie Stringfield
'In 1930, at age of 19, Bessie Stringfield flipped a penny onto a map of the US then ventured out on her bike alone. She became the first Black woman to ride a motorcycle in every one of the connected 48 states — a solo cross-country ride she undertook eight times during her lifetime'

Democratic primary observation

@sri Where can we find the new schedule? Is Oregon relevant?

My first instinct is to just shuffle randomly every year, but I recognize that we'd want to avoid, say, having one region of the country entirely at the beginning or the end.

My second instinct is for everyone to vote at once with ranked choice.

#Violet has settled in the puffy chair to watch the birds outside battle over seed and suet while the snow falls.

#DogsOfMastodon

Not gonna lie, this report is impressive, and every Mastodon instance should publish something like this every month. I have an account on mstdn.ca, and this is the kind of thing that would encourage me to move my main account from mastodon.social to mstdn.ca (although I would still support Eugen’s Patreon for his work on Mastodon, which benefits all instances). Staying put for now, though.

What we’re up against in our struggle for a sane, just livable future. Powerful corporate forces determined to wring every last nickel out of the oil fields as they continue to wreck our world.

innuendo (in original post)

@ginnyhogan I love how simultaneously highbrow and lowbrow that joke is. @grammargirl

1. Got the car battery replaced.
2. Wingspan, with a chaser of Go Nuts for Donuts, on Board Game Arena.
3. The anticipation of snow.

Working programs are all alike; every broken program is broken in its own way.

At least, that's how it should be. When multiple students submit solutions that take the same strange, nonworking approach, I get suspicious.

Pro tip for students: I'm not giving you these assignments because I want more copies of the solution. Struggling with them is how you learn.

All the letters, large and small case. Quartz veins in stone. Molly Montgomery collects natural unedited rocks on the beach creating an alphabet that took her many years...

@htdrake, reading from Wingspan card: "Kestrels track rodents by their urine, and will cache surplus kills for later."

Me: Mood.
