Anyone in the Portland, OR area want to Test Flight my next-gen "PDX Transit" app for iOS and watchOS?
It's completely re-written from the ground up using 100% SwiftUI and other technologies like Swift Concurrency, Combine, CloudKit-backed Core Data, etc. It is snappy as heck too!
Let me know by sending me your email in a DM for a TF invite.

It’s a shame that we probably won’t play Arkadia again soon enough for me to remember any lessons learned.

The friend teaching us to play warned us not to put off scoring, that we should expect a slow start that would suddenly accelerate to the end. So, of course, I put off scoring and was surprised when the end came upon us all of a sudden. 🤣

It was also hard to remember that while you must place your people, the key to scoring is surrounding buildings.

Except when your foreign neighbour Keith received eight counterfeit beige sleighs from feisty caffeinated weightlifters.
Weird.

@ianhopkinson @TeslaDuBois I'm a fan of PyCharm as an IDE.

To answer your question, you'll enjoy the consistent syntax. Want to know the length of a list, set, dictionary, or string? It's done the same way. For those data types where indexing makes sense, it's done the same way. Slices? Consistent.

Depending on how many other languages you've used, you'll love or despise that Python starts counting at 0, not 1.

Moving in either direction, you'll despise that the names are different, because the names in R come from statistics and the names in Python come from computer science.

Pro tip: if that local business is on the other side of town, and getting there would be an hour of driving in traffic each way ... you can just mail stuff.

@Pat That certainly doesn't match what the CDC is saying now:

cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/

I think the people at the CDC have been doing their best, but the GQP crowd prevented them from doing any more than they did.

Evil is, as you say, in the minority. If it seems particularly vicious right now, it's because it knows it's outnumbered.

Despair is a tool of those who would have us give up. We're in the world we're in, most of us are pulling in the right direction, and we make the changes we can. The road is very long, but we're making progress every day.

“We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.”

This is fascinating! The Braille Institute has developed a font - free to download - that's designed to be clearer for readers with lower vision.

An example of one of the aspects of low legibility that they tackled attached.

It's named Atkinson Hyperlegible. Atkinson was the Institute's founder - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._Rober

Here's where you can read about the font and download it: brailleinstitute.org/freefont

The correct way to address a badger is "Your Badgesty”.

Our squirrel has figured out how to reach all three front bird feeders. Sadly, I wasn't fast enough to catch the moment it successfully tackled the owl. But it did!

What's the difference between a hippo and a Zippo?

One's very heavy and the other's a little lighter
