@joelvanderwerf @futurebird It's also the name of a local metal band, who perform in Klingon and have a seven-foot, one-armed lead signer.

@Jinshei I presume it has to marinate in the dirt and it has to be moved regularly for security reasons.
@pieceofthepie #Violet, who is probably part Corgi, still has one of the toys that came home with her over eight years ago.
There's a book called "What the F*@# Should I Make for Dinner?". It's described as "the perfect gift for anyone who loves food", which really misses the point.

Why did the admiral have to come cancel the program in person?
Why didn't they just do the whole mission with cruise missiles or high-altitude bombs?
Wouldn't this mission be a blatant act of war?
Why did two of the F-18s have two crewmembers while the other two had one?
Are the key messages "motorcycle helmets are for losers" and "if only the Pentagon had a budget large enough to keep up with foreign technology"?
Why did the F-14 only have enough bullets to fire its guns for like four seconds?
Do ... do they think we never saw Star Wars?
I guess we have to give them points for giving Maverick an age-appropriate love interest.
Those are my initial reactions. Now I'll go watch the Honest Trailer.
> DT was in office for the first 11 months of the epidemic in the US. During the first 11 months of the Biden admin, more people died than under Donald.
That's cherry picking. It ignores the lower numbers in Biden's second's year and includes a huge spike just as Biden took office, before his policies could have changed anything. It's also not true.
> I'm sure you've read my previous posts on this
You would be wrong about that.
> Did hear any PSAs telling people to wear respirators?
Yes! Constantly! Through the mainstream media!

@Pat Huh, that's weird. I clicked on the link in the Wikipedia article. It works -- because even though the text in the article says publichealthemergency.gov, the link is to phe.gov.
So: the site works, but the Wikipedia article give the wrong URL (weirdly, only in the text).
@Pat It worked fine for me.
@Pat Media and some other sources. I don't claim to be an epidemiologist.
That said, even if the TOTAL deaths under Biden have been higher, you have to take into account that Biden has been dealing with the pandemic for about twice as long. The deaths PER DAY have been lower under Biden.
Why do I think we had more deaths than other countries? Republicans, pure and simple. Even as health authorities begged people to get vaccinated and wear masks, Republicans told people not to and sued to prevent any mask requirements.
@boardgamebreakdown It works as a light dice game. I'm planning to have my software development students implement it as a practice project.
Looking forward to the video!
@Pat "GQP" is my snarky conflation of GOP and QAnon. It seems that the majority of that party has gone off the deep end.
I guess I'm not ready to believe in the sort of vast, evil conspiracy you describe. Even Trump doesn't have killing people as his goal; he just doesn't care about anyone but himself. I certainly don't believe Fauci or Biden want more people to die.
The difference with Exxon is that we have the smoking gun: they paid for ads saying climate change isn't a problem while their internal research said the opposite. (See also the Ford Pinto.)
When I complain about "capitalism", I mean runaway, unregulated, laissez-faire, every-man-for-himself, predatory capitalism. I'm not opposed to commerce or a profit motive within limits, but we need to tax the rich and spend tax money on things that benefit all of us (like health care and public transit).
Elections are, of course, the easiest means to nonviolent revolution. Don't like the people in power? Throw 'em out. Our elections are flawed and under attack, but changing things any other way is much more difficult.
@boardgamebreakdown Nope, the only requirement is to play at least one game starting with that letter.
We've played other things in the past fortnight: Floriferous, Mandala, Parks, Qwixx, and Votes for Women.
Yes, we've been playing a LOT of games lately, because we both happened to have some vacation time. Next week it's back to the bit mines.
Let’s be clear: The country is the United States of America, and it is the twentieth century, any time before the 1960s rights revolution - that’s the vision.
Mercilessly restore and entrench traditional hierarchies of race, gender, religion, and wealth - that’s the project. 5/
@dria Iron Helm is decent for solo.
For two players (competitive), consider Claustrophobia.
Dungeon Twister also has a lot going for it.
