@olsonexi But
>>> 7**(197.0) % 787

So apparently ** works differently for ints and floats. For ints it's an exact (huge) integer, but for floats it's an approximation.
>>> 7**(197)

With such a gross approximation, the % operator is nearly meaningless.

I've started adding an extra credit question to all my exams that is, in a nutshell, "Describe, in detail, some topic you studied for the exam but that the exam did not cover".
Most of the responses I get are of the form "I found <thing> really interesting and studied it in great detail, but you didn't ask me enough about it and I want to talk about it more."
This is super rewarding.
Instead of using chatbots to turn prompts into rambling emails, why don't we just send each other the prompts and save everyone time?
So look—I've never been quite as big of a Steven Wolfram fan as Steven Wolfram is.
But to if you can get past the idiosyncrasies, in this piece he does a better job than I could of trying to explain from the ground up what it is that ChatGPT is doing.

@Rmond I don't have a physical copy, but I've played a version of it.
Astonishingly, it doesn't look like anyone has produced an axolotl hnefatafl board.
@lowqualityfacts To regrow a lost limb?
☣️ Unsurprisingly, #Amazon continues its planet-destroying practices. Reporting today exposes them secretly spending massive amounts of money to fight a new law up for vote next week in Oregon (US). The new rules would require large data centers and crypto miners to move to clean energy over the next 17 years.
⌛ Never mind we don't even have that long to stop irreversible #climate damage.
Please share widely to expose their evil, and #DitchAmazon.
