Stack Overflow lays off 28 percent of staff. I'm going to start streaming development of Cascadia 9.2, the third in our series of earthquake preparedness games, in the Jam Coworking 1 channel at http://discord.gg/pigsquad in an hour (1 PM Pacific). Goals for this session:
Create a simple maze
Add a “dead zone” that kills a PC who walks into it
Launch a new level when both PCs reach the goal
Display both PCs’ faces in the HUD
US healthcare kvetch
So I started using a CPAP machine a few months ago. Apparently the story is that it's 100% effective, but patient compliance is the big issue; some give up the first night.
After verifying that it would work for me (and which mask I would need), I went ahead and signed up for "supplies" (replacement parts) to be shipped out every three months. They had me fill out a contract.
It's been more than three months, and I haven't received anything. I contacted the company through the email address the provided, and got a reply to call a phone number. I did that, and the story turned out to be:
"Your insurance doesn't allow automatic shipping, so we received your order and didn't enroll you."
It's all straightened out now, but "silently do nothing" is not a good policy.
1. It took a day and a half of weekend work, but I caught up from my COVID sick days.
2. All the luck was on my side in today's game of Unmatched. My Medusa landed a mighty Gaze of Stone attack before Sinbad managed to dig out his Voyage cards.
3. #Violet is an excellent foot warmer during a couch nap.
I've started work on Cascadia 9.2, the third of our earthquake preparedness video games. If you're interested in seeing how the sausage is made, tune in to the PIGSquad Discord (http://discord.gg/pigsquad) at 1 PM Pacific on Monday, October 16. I plan to go for a couple of hours until I'm at a good stopping point.
