Death screen now connotes neither heaven nor hell but only the nothingness of oblivion.

What are your testing practices? Do you do unit tests, system tests, manual tests? Do you simply never make errors?

I write unit tests for all my systems, which are usually quite small.

Now I started doing some larger scale tests. In those I mock nothing, just feed user inputs to start abilities etc. I hope this will help me detect regression errors from big changes earlier. I want to check is the functionality is still intact. I expect the unit tests to fail anyway.

What does sunrise look like where you live?

One of the best posts I've seen on here was: "Mastodon is for what you love, not what you hate." I for one am devoted to keeping it that way.

This weekend is another window where you can try out Cascadia 9.1, our second earthquake game, free on the web:

Thank you for contributing to the science on earthquake preparedness education!

People who don't believe in evolution are primate change deniers.

It’s REALLY important that #Vancouver’s Downtown Business Association, who were originally AGAINST downtown bike-lanes, later became one of their most vigourous supporters, because of EVIDENCE that bike-lanes are better for downtown business than any street parking they replace.

2-4 year postdoc position working with tree sequences at the University of Oregon.

We seek a postdoc for a collaborative, computational project to develop and apply cuttin edge computational methods in genomics; in particular working with the growing ecosystem of population genetics tools based on the “succinct tree sequence” data structure.

Well, that's fun. Unity is changing the timestep settings on its own. Sometimes while the game is running.

The words "timestep" and "TimeManager" do not appear anywhere in our code, including third-party assets.

The best bugs are nondeterministic bugs in the platform. 😐

Hi @scott -

I've used Craiglist and others in the fam have used freecycle.org/town/PortlandOR . This time of year, for Craigslist I've listed what's available and left it in an accessible spot, and removed the listing when the stuff disappeared. A little harder in the rainy season....
