@MaxGuthier @nealcurtis I’ve been doing my part. I’m not Black, so every Friday I’ve been boosting other posts tagged with BlackFriday or BlackJoy and saving my own thoughts for Saturdays.

Some inconvenient facts about immigrants that MAGAs hope you ignore:

•Seeking asylum is a legal & human RIGHT, protected by the US Constitution and the UN Convention on Refugees (to which the USA is a signatory)

•Both documented AND undocumented immigrants have LOWER crime rates than US Citizens (and usually higher vaccination rates too)

•Undocumented immigrants pay MORE in taxes ($12B annually) than Trump ever has or will (and get none of the tax benefits)

RT if you learned something new!

Today I wish for everyone who has a birth family to find peace and togetherness with their birth family, and everyone else to find welcome and peace and togetherness with a found family.

For me and mine, my later-in-life family are about to set out for as much extended family togetherness as we can stand, and possibly a little more.

I’m thankful for my kid who expected to be in the hospital having surgery today, but is instead recuperating from their surgery at home with their family. Yay!

@freemo Many of us aren’t feeling a super-strong Christmas vibe here, either, and I’m not entirely sure why.

But it’s the 25th of December regardless, so feel free to indulge in whatever makes you happy today!

That’s, you know, legal and moral and ethical, of course.

A universe in motion seen from the International Space Station during a night pass over Earth.

Happy Family Sysadmin day to all who celebrate.

@hexedpress And of course I clicked through to your profile after answering, so clearly I could have skipped the first part about dungeon23. :)

@hexedpress @seanmccoy posted about originally, I linked that in my post, but I’m not creating a “dungeon,” but rather something set in the far future, in the world of . So instead of , I saw some people using for non-dungeons using the same idea.

Dungeon 23 is something I think about every day, and I think about it as that, even though I intend to create a instead.

To recap, this is the brainchild of @seanmccoy, who posted about it here: seanmccoy.substack.com/p/dunge

I told myself I wasn't going to start until January 1. I mean, I don't even have a Japanese notebook yet! (Santa might bring me one tomorrow.) But I can't stop thinking about it, so I started to list some ideas. Not full room descriptions, just ideas. And then I added some themes to consider. Which led to some questions I had to think through, which...

Now I have a Scenario, The Brief, and some Warden's Notes, all for eventual players, as well as Implications, Room Ideas, and a "Think about" section for me as I create the facility, all of which led naturally to a list of "Baddies" and a growing "Backstory."

I don't have quick notes for a mega-dungeon, I've got extensive notes for an entire module!

As of right now, eight days before I'm "starting," I've got notes for a future MegaCorp (Chan Hong Co) that won salvage rights at auction for an ancient crashed alien ship that they, in their MegaCorp way, dubbed "Chan Hong Facility 23," and where they promptly set up shop for a combination of manufacturing, research, and salvage. Can you guess which of the three areas ended up sparking a cult? Or why?

I think I need to keep *some* things to myself for now, to avoid spoiling eventual game play. But I'll try to post what updates I can that don't spoil anything beyond early game play here on a semi-regular basis.

I'm also thinking about how I want to eventually present this. I'm a writer, not an artist! I do live with an artist, though. Still, I'm a writer. How narrative can I make this while still giving Wardens the flexibility they need to run games?

@WhatDoIKnowJR Good news! It's Saturday. Tomorrow Sunday, and after that, Monday.

I hope you have a relaxing weekend. ❤️

@ryanmr For example, I initially forgot to change the visibility on my reply, as I like to do, so I had to "delete and re-draft" to fix that. Unfortunately.

@undefined @ryanmr Yes!

It's a fork of mastodon pre-4.x, so it doesn't have, for example, post editing (yet). Then again, it took 4.x to catch up to a number of features qoto.org has had for quite some time, so I guess it balances out.

My understanding is that mastodon itself supports so-called "quote tweets," but they aren't implemented on most servers. They're implemented on the server I use, though, so this should appear to be quoted.

I’m beginning to think that signing up for Cinemark’s movie club might have been a mistake. Not just because it's a bad deal, although movies in theaters have seemed to be somewhat rubbish since I signed up, or unsuitable for reasons peculiar to my family. I was excited when the Black Panther movie was released… but found no passes were allowed, which I think left me out. (Although maybe not, I only realized today, since I have credits, not passes. Oops!)

Finally today, we decided we’re going to see something, anything, because it's Christmas Eve. We picked a 2:55 showing of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and… because it’s a matinee showing, it’s cheaper than what I paid for the saved-up credits.

So here I am with six stored up credits for free movie tickets, paying $30 for three people to see a movie I could maybe have seen months ago but was scared away from.

I'm not saying Cinemark's movie club is a bad deal, I'm just saying it might have been a mistake for me to sign up for it specifically.

Happy #BlackFriday! Here's the most ridiculous Christmas song outside of Dominic the Donkey. And I love it intensely.
