@ai6yr Haven't read the article, but the Icelanders have successfully done. As I remember they protected a town by setting up powerful pumps that pumped seawater to firehoses. They used this 24 hours a day to cool and strategically freeze lava to make basalt dams to contain / divert the lava.

@lauren Interesting. It seems that some Apple users might take issue with that. Also, I would guess that the EU isn't kidding. If not, Apple will have to deal with that too.

@HSTG @georgetakei Yes, and there are lots of examples. Being a member of Congress is highly lucrative these days. Seems to me that all cases of politicians going from rags to riches merit close investigation by the Inspector General. Maybe it's legit, and that's fine. But I'll bet most cases are not.

@karlauerbach Yeah, I'm not aware of those details. I do know that the guilty entity is wholly owned by a much larger corporation today. OTOH, it's only $16 mil. Probably cheaper to just pay it. They earn that out in a couple of days. Lol.

@notpike Embroidery is fun! I got the presser feet for freehand embroidery and it's a blast. It's the only form of "art" I can do. I sketch a simple scene using a chalk pencil and then have at it with different color threads.

The nature of embroidery is such that imperfections are just part of the scene so my lack of artistic talent isn't a hindrance. Lol.

@marathon@mstdn.ca @wiseguyeddie The main problem for Twitter is if they continue to violate the terms of service of the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, they will be removed. The EU won't stand for it either. If Twitter is not available on smartphones, it's dead meat.
