@uanews I was about to purchase a couple of products on Amazon tonight, but then noticed they were made in Belarus. Nope.
Just to be clear, when the New York Times reported that the FBI saw “no link between Trump and Russia” — a week before the 2016 election — the FBI agent who was just arrested over ties to Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska was heading up the investigation.
@scrumm It creeps into your heart. ;-)
@waoac Lemme guess. This has something to do with a homeowners association.
In a week with its share of stories on Brett Kavanaugh and Ron DeSantis, a fact that does not get discussed often is how they were members of the same frat -- Yale's Delta Kappa Epsilon.
Considering #Kavanaugh and #DeSantis's war on women, people of color, and democracy itself... a question demands to be answered:
Do elite institutions bear any responsibility for admitting, nurturing, and providing connections to those who would become -- or already were -- monsters?
@ValkyrieKerry It's hard to beat Catch-22. High on the list for me also are Heart of Darkness and The Things They Carried.

Why the HELL do all the maga websites have more informative headlines on this story than the soporific that the so-called liberal media can muster up?

I bet you’ve heard of Galileo & Hubble, but what about Henrietta Swan Leavitt?
Leavitt changed astronomy. She figured out new ways to measure a star’s distance from Earth & her work helped determine the universe is expanding.
Her boss, Edward Pickering, published her findings UNDER HIS NAME. Later, Shapley used her findings to determine distances around the Milky Way w/o credit.
Leavitt’s work is still used today. So next time you hear about famous men in #science share her remarkable story.
Just to be clear, when the New York Times reported that the FBI saw “no link between Trump and Russia” — a week before the 2016 election — the FBI agent who was just arrested over ties to Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska was heading up the investigation.
Just an absolute scandal.
@EdSanders @AnarchoNinaWrites My grandmother was Estonian, educated in St. Petersburg, and lived through both WW1 and WW2 in Hamburg. She told me that most people didn't believe that Hitler meant what he said. "Oh, he's just rabble rousing."
I assume that nice people are especially unwilling to accept that someone can be that terrible. They've probably never known anyone like that.
This is ultimately why fact checking and debunking cannot stop a fascist creep or fascist propaganda in general.
It's very hard for folks to accept that the people around them do not believe the things they're saying, and are indeed actively lying to generate power - but this is more or less the entire history of fascism. They're playing to win; over your dead body. It's that simple. Doesn't matter if they're in your family, if you work together, if you had BBQ at the cottage together one time.
