@paulkruczynski I guess there'd be bigger and bigger bonfires, more CO2.
@lauren I'm sure they are. "Ambulance chasing" by the media was pointed out to me by my grandmother in the early 1960s, and it's been going on for as long as newspapers have existed.
I have no doubt the media uses its influence to create train wrecks, like its wild-eyed support and coverage of the Trump clown-car in 2016. "Boy, this is going to create scandal like you won't believe. Whoo hoo!"
@sannewman You may have done them a great favor. A lot of difficulty with writing that I see stems from stress and worry about their writing. You took a big step towards freeing them of that.
@fulanigirl Wow. I love it. From back when everybody knew how to sew and a lot of ordinary people could sew at the level of a professional seamstress.
These days I'm kind of an oddball because I love to sew and I'm a guy. (I'm also old. Hah.)
@oliverames I see you "get it". Some newcomers don't.
The petition to remove #LGBT content from the uk curriculum now has 190,671 signatures, sigh. It only needed 100k to force a debate in parliament, so that will be scheduled by #Uk Gov.
The counter petition is rapidly gaining ground, being newer. It now has 33,030 signatures, but we need more!
Pls sign if uk, boost otherwise! 👇

@rvaughnmd Hahaha. Yes.
@clacke Ahh, black tea. Well, I believe that somewhere between 10 and 20 percent of the population is oppositely affected from the majority.
For them, caffeine is a sedative, methamphetamine is a sedative and appetite enhancer, diphenhydramine (Benadryl) keeps them awake and gives them nightmares.
I've met a number of people in this minority. It's a thing.
@jessicawildfire You're absolutely right. We humans have lost the plot. A lot of us have stopped thinking entirely, largely because modern media and the Internet tell us what to think, and that's a lot easier than reading and thinking.
I get to overhear a lot of cellphone conversations about "politics". The conversations don't explore anything new. The two participants do nothing but parrot what they just heard on Fox News and the other party parrots back. Nothing moves, nothing changes. They just repeat what they heard and get agreement.
@clacke Depends on the tea. Was it chamomile? Chamomile would put me to sleep as a teen. Haven't tried it in old age.
@SardonicAnthony Yeah, it's a whole different world today. Unimaginable to an old guy like me.
I'm an engineer and 30, 40 years ago I was a gun enthusiast. I enjoyed shooting. So did my wife and kids. It's actually a great sport that teaches self-control, discipline, eye-hand coordination.
We did almost all our shooting in the desert of Southern Nevada, but sometimes I'd go to a shooting range. One day, some guy put up a picture of Bill Clinton and used it as a target. Not long after he got a visit from the FBI.
Can you imagine that happening today? I'm sure nobody would even blink if someone did that today. We've completely lost our sense of propriety and common sense.
@NilaJones Bahaha. I've used quite a number of seatless toilets in so-called third-world countries. I've used some "restrooms" that are best not described at all. (Trust me, you don't want to know. No, really, you don't need to hear it.)
I remember my first encounter with a highly unusual "toilet". It was 1969 in Italy. I needed a restroom and chose a police station. The "toilet" was a hole in the floor. It was tiled and all, sloping toward the hole. But it was about a 6 or 7 inch hole in the floor. That's it. Open the stall, hole in the floor, done. All righty, then.
@jayinkyiv All righty, let's get those Patriot missile batteries and C-RAMs into play.
I'm looking forward to the counteroffensive that will come in the spring.
The Russians like to claim they are "retaliating" against the Ukrainians. No, no, no. Russia is the aggressor. The aggressor doesn't retaliate. The invaded retaliate, and retaliation is coming. I hope the retaliation goes the extra 250 miles to destroy the criminal Russian state and remove that festering thorn from world politics, at least for a while.
@georgelakoff
Yes!!!!
Twitter is not physical space that can be fought over.
It is virtual space. Musk can boost/hide your tweets at will. He can control what you see. He can disappear you from the site. There 👏 is 👏 no 👏 fighting. 👏Just 👏 leave 👏
The sooner you move, the sooner the network effect at safer sites.
