@freemo Some news stories say it was mutual, some say he was fired and it's being presented as mutual. I've not seen any story say that he quit. But perhaps he did.
Why is Elon Musk constantly in the news? Every day. Several times a day.
It's a conscious decision and intentional. Musk plays the news media and they are happy to be played.

@lauren I'm sure that's true. But I'll bet the rest of his co-workers had the same opinions. What about them?
If they didn't make him sign an NDA maybe he'll write a tell-all book.
I wish I could be half as brave as she is. In Montana!!! I’d be scared as hell.

The Natl Acad. of Sciences, Engineering & Med, who helped shape the govt’s response to the opioid crisis, accepted ~$19 million from the Sackler family (owners of Purdue & makers of OxyContin.)
“I didn’t know they were taking private money,” Von Korff, a prominent pain care researcher, said. “It sounds like insanity to take money from principals of drug companies and then do reports related to opioids. I am really shocked.”

A few days back, the Sun unleashed an Earth directed flare. It took a few days to arrive, but it finally came in the early hours of this morning.
Aurora have lit up the world since!
Astrophotographers have captured them in Victoria, Tasmania. The below Gorgeous photo by AsV member Eddie Pang was captured using iPhone 14 Pro of this morning’s aurora captured at the Astro. Society of Victoria's Leon Mow dark sky site north of Heathcote (VIC)
In the north, they are reporting aurora as far south as Kansas!
@baekdal Yes, I looked just now, Apr 24 0141 UTC, and Denmark's electricity consumption at that moment is 2,890 MW or 2.89 GW. That's in line with what I said before.
Of that, power plants are providing about 800 MW and wind turbines 1,615 MW or 1.6 GW.
This is very good, of course. Denmark is a model country for adopting renewable energy sources. Denmark's consumption at the moment is roughly equivalent to the City of Los Angeles, CA right now.
2.89 GW and 6 million people is around 480 watts per person. U.S. consumption at this moment is 408 GW with 320 million people, is about 1275 watts per person. Some of that is because of heavy industry and some because it's dinner hour in the Western U.S. when consumption spikes up, where in Denmark it's the middle of the night, generally the lowest consumption rate of the day.
You can watch the U.S. grid -- consumption and power sources here: https://www.eia.gov/electricity/gridmonitor/dashboard/electric_overview/US48/US48
The exciting thing here is that, over the years, I've watched wind power creeping up and up. It now regularly exceeds the combined output of our nuclear plants, which is around 75 to 80 GW and frequently exceeds coal if the wind conditions are good.
@baekdal I should add that one large modern wind generator produces around 4 megawatts of power. ;-)
@baekdal You are confusing megawatts (MW) and gigawatts (GW), a factor of a thousand. A small town has a consumption around 4 megawatts.
The consumption of Denmark is 32,000 GWh per year or an average steady consumption of around 3.6 GW, a thousand times higher than the figure you state.
Denmark's state energy agency publishes all the figures.
You don't need no adblocker on Mastodon (or pretty much any fediverse product) because there's no ads.
And you don't need to block trackers or analytics or worry about information about you being sent to third parties.
If you check your adblocker you'll see 0 things. If you check for trackers for the usual suspects: Google, Facebook, etc, which are nearly ubiquitous on the web, you will not find them here at all.
Do you have any idea how rare that is nowadays, especially on a social media platform?
The fact that MAGA *still* fail to realize how they are being exploited by rich Republicans is amusing.
Musk has imposed these celebrity blue checks on people who refuse to pay him.
And they *still* don't get why that's a problem.
Modern Republican & Tory policy is funded to impose the unwanted on anyone who isn't a billionaire.
And they still don't recognize that as fascism .
@gratefuldread What an idiot. If you're a Marine you WILL be held to a higher standard. Don't like it, don't become a Marine.
@willoremus Yep. Mine all are.
@efftoyz @the_Effekt @MeanwhileinCanada Bahahaha. Yeah. Thanks! Total waste of resources but it did get the American people more accustomed to violations of their rights, asset forfeiture, Napoleonic Law, and other unAmerican things. That got us ready for suspension of habeas, the TSA, etc. Now we're used to it and it's "normal".
