@cobalt Sorry. Just saw it now when I got home from work. I work 12 hour shifts on Fri and Sat.

Let’s try a little sharing game on my stream. #TipOfDay
As long as I know folks may be interested, I’ll do a one-a-day theme post. Creates a collection searchable by hashtag. Any topic but to be part of it, repeat the hashtag of my daily post. Show me if you are interested by a comment, reply with a new top, fave or boost. Each day you can do a hashtag search if you wish to find one. Next post starts it.

Twitter is dying, but my advocacy work helping trans people raise money via fundraisers depends on my five years of work I've spent writing on Twitter, so I need help.

If you're a trans person who needs help raising money for any reason, reply to this toot with your fundraiser. I'll reach out.

If you're a cis person and you can, please boost this post so your trans followers can see it.

Interesting moment from earlier in the day:

Echoing the state judge who presided over Trump's arraignment, the federal judge presiding over #EJeanCarroll v. #Trump warned the parties to refrain from making statements that would incite violence or civil unrest.

There are precisely two cases I've covered in more than a decade in which I can recall the judge giving such a warning, both with case captions ending in "vs. Trump." #legal

As a Neo-Luddite who knows quite a lot about modern technology, "ambient computing" is one of the most horrifying ideas in tech over recent years.

I sure don't want buggy, corporate owned, oppressive bullshit disembodied all around myself like some vague malicious miasma.

I prefer my technology in a form where I can smash it to pieces if needed, thank you very much.

@Incognitim Yep. When you take a stupid or untenable position and keep pushing and pushing it, forcing it into reality, an endless stream of stupid stuff like this will result.

@N4JAW Hah. I like it. POTA is cool. Doing it on a bicycle is cool at another level.

@PJ_Evans @lauren Agreed. The First Amendment is all about not needing "permission to speak". What's more, the founders would have been opposed to any sort of national identification system. States, yes, they can do what they want with their citizens, but not the federal government. Yet, here we are.

New federal bipartison bill would set age limits for social media and establish government run Internet-use ID system [like in China]. Both parties want the U.S. Internet to be like the Communist Chinese Internet. -

@davidzipper Excellent news. Back in the day, you could operate all the controls in your car in the dark, without looking, without taking your eyes from the road.

I realize that it's cheaper for the manufacturer to do everything from a touch screen and menus but it's an idiotic idea.

The United Nations Human Rights Office pressed Singapore on Tuesday to "urgently reconsider" its scheduled execution of a man over one kilogram (2.2 pounds) of cannabis. cbsn.ws/41QLEWg

@Npars01

We've already been the victim of a coal ash release upstream from one of the retention ponds. It's not this power plant but another one that closed and is being "cleaned" up.

They quietly were dumping it before getting caught when cleaning it up.

Our water came out all dirty, stinky and whatnot. Our water intake for city service was downstream of the release

Record heat in California's Sierras over next week, and the flooding will be intense as the largest snowpack in recent history melts rapidly.

'Freedom' and 'crisis' are the two most over used words in politics today.

Both are vague and meaningless when campaigning for office.

@TheConversationUS This is nothing new. It's how directors and shareholders squeeze the value out of a company before crushing it. I've observed it since the 1970s. There are corporate raiders who build their fortunes by hunting for these kinds of opportunities.

I would imagine that years ago the directors decided there was no long-term future for the company. The job then becomes how to squeeze as many dollars out of the company's assets and reputation as possible.

I don't usually post stuff from the other place but this is VERY IMPORTANT.
"Morrisons Cafes and Heinz are providing free meals (jacket potato and baked beans) to everyone from 24th April until 7th May 2023 - NO PURCHASE REQUIRED, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. Just ‘Ask For Henry.’ It’s open to all so please use this if you’re struggling."

@lauren Yes. Being a pianist from an early age and learning to deal with stage fright, and having access to professional actors, speakers, and musicians, I frequently discussed this with them. Pretty much all said exactly what you just said. You want a little bit of excitement so you have your edge. Too much and you brain lock. (I knew all about that.)

When I reached the age of about 18, I became so confident that my tension went all the way to zero and I discovered the opposite end of the problem. Yes, you do want a leetle bit of butterflies. Zero is no good.
