Time for a proper introduction.
I am a professional astronomer at Helsinki University, Finland, studying exoplanets and active stellar surfaces.
I have discovered dozens of planets around nearby stars, most notably #Proximab around the nearest star to the Sun.
I do statistical modelling and data analysis, numerical simulations, and lots of other things.
Trying to understand the universe the best I can.

@taur10 @phibber@botsin.space Yep, the thoughtful GOPers are in a bit of a quandary, which is nothing unusual. But there's no shortage of those who have themselves so wound up they are zealots and who think God is on their side. The GOP has to keep their base fired up.
I'll wait and see what happens. The right is so full of nonsense and zealotry I don't expect logical behavior.
I find it interesting how "abortion", a red herring issue chosen in the 1970s by the post-Southern-Strategy GOP to distract people from the true focus, segregation, has turned into such a huge tempest for people today.
The good thing is that Republicans waste enormous time and effort on this non-issue and given the Supreme Court's decision, will eventually blow up in their faces.
@phibber@botsin.space We'll see what happens. Some states have already said they plan to outlaw all forms of birth control. And states do have that power.
Of course, such states don't care to understand how human nature works. When you outlaw something, all you do is create a new class of criminals and business opportunities for criminals. The Soviets discovered this the hard way a long time ago. Lol.

Every Mastodon explanation is like "It's very simple, your account is part of a kerflunk, and each kerflunk can talk to each other as part of a bumblurt. At the moment everyone you flurgle can see your bloops but only people IN your kerflunk can quark your nerps. Kinda like email."
@mattblaze It's up to you. Mastodon provides good backup tools and a standardized file format. A couple of night ago, I switched from one instance (server) to another, painless easy. If you back up your account, you can jump to a different server and be up and running.
