My twitter followers are jumping ship. My engagement is dropping rapidly. They changed the algorithm to force feed me right wing accounts. And white supremacy, Islamophobia, & antisemitism on Twitter are being defended as valid points of view.

By contrast this Mastodon community is igniting robust dialogue, respectful disagreement, and offers little comfort to racists and bigots.

This is what Twitter could’ve been, and I’m really hopeful this is what Mastodon continues to be. Thank you all.❤️✊🏽

@lauren @matt I've just been putting links inline too and they work as links. But Mastodon doesn't go find a graphic to display (if there is one) like some platforms do. Diaspora doesn't either.

@lauren @matt Hmm, I think it's not working as you intend. When I click on the URL link in the text it takes me not to a video but to the YouTube main index page. When I hover over the link, it shows a truncated URL .../watch?v= and nothing after the equals sign.

First day back post surgery.

My company let me and my team go. They completely abandoned Security Engineering

To make it even worse I just got multiple folks reaching out to let me know that my now former boss just threw my team and I under the bus. Said we didn't do anything of value and that letting us go was easy.

Given we're both DEFCON goons and he was someone I considered to be a friend, that really twists the knife. I just hope he'll be man enough to talk to me about what he did, but his actions so far indicate otherwise

So I'm looking for work and I've got several engineers looking with me. I'd love to get us hired as a package deal, but right now we'll take what we can get.

#ElonMusk has already said he wants GOP to take the White House. He has begun using the major-media-identified “Democrat Party” *slur* publicly (there is no such party; it is the Democratic Party). He has mass unsuspended/unbanned far-right feeds even as he has now begun mass-suspending/banning targeted *left-wing* feeds on the explicit, public demand of a list of 5,000 proposed accounts provided by neo-Nazis & other white supremacists.

@lauren I see the image is hosted on your own server so there's no reason for it to be "not available".

Even stranger is the fact that when Masto fuzzes photos, it uses the underlying photo so you get an extremely blurred version. That's what I see. It has the photo but is deliberately fuzzing it and says "Not available".

Must be a glitch of some kind. I'm sure the code that handles that stuff is well ironed out. I'll keep my eyes open.

@lauren Scanning down I see your post of 14 minutes ago, Twitter tries to "bribe" has her photo behind a "Not available" indicator with the photo fuzzed out. So, actually it's a "Not Available" rather than a content warning. (They look the same) A glitch, apparently. If I click on it then a new window opens with the correct photo.
