@The_Whore_of_Blahbylon She'll get you back for this, you know. Especially posting a photo of it. You're in deep trouble, Mister.

Woot, finally received the last QSO confirmation needed (VT on SSB) for ARRL's triple play - working all states on digital, CW and SSB!

@malwaretech Yes, exactly. Most people in West Virginia are of that mindset. If you drive a nice car and wear a suit, you are automatically assumed to be honest and trustworthy. If you are rich, you can do no wrong.

This comes from a fundamental belief that rich people are blessed by God. That's why they're rich. Conversely, the poor are cursed. That's why they're poor.

All kinds of bad stuff results from this, invariably resulting in West Virginians getting screwed over. And they did it again by overwhelmingly supporting Trump.

In a way it's understandable. People here have no experience of rich people. Most have never met one. So their image of a rich person is a poor person's imagination of a rich person.

I'm not originally from here, I'm from Los Angeles / Hollywood / Beverly Hills and grew up surrounded by the rich and famous. That the rich and famous have the same flaws as they, the same percentage of jerks, assholes, and criminals, is unimaginable to the folks around here.

@ravenonthill Here is where the governor needs to step in. He can quarantine her by force with the stroke of a pen. No ifs or buts, already settled by the U.S. Supreme Court long ago.

This violin was in the car stolen from singer Debbie Davis in New Orleans. Boosting the signal - hoping that it will be recovered. Thanks ❤ This is a photo of the violin before it was worked on. It now has new strings and pegs and it’s cleaned up in full playing condition. The case is hard brown leather and has inscription A2 painted on the bottom of the case in white paint. Please be on the lookout in New Orleans area. #NOLA @noladon

@black_intellect Yup. They were duped by bad actors. Maybe they know it, and they're mad, and this might override the resistance to admitting error.

"The United States is the only large high-income nation that doesn't provide universal #healthcare to its citizens," Reinhart continued "Instead, it maintains a lucrative system of for-profit #medicine. For decades, at least tens of thousands of preventable deaths have occurred each year because healthcare here is so expensive." commondreams.org/news/physicia

I'm now privileged to have experienced two Sputnik incidents in my lifetime.

I was very young for the first one but my father explained it to me. It's possible that the incident got me interested in space and ultimately on an astronomy career path, later switched to engineering when I was 19. What's this space stuff?

Any questions?

@HLGEM @rami I didn't say it was smart or what's best for the business. Shareholders vote and they want what will put maximum cash in their pocket right now, today.

When I started investing in the 1960s, large corporations were often led by CEOs who had worked their way up and knew every aspect of the business. They played a long game. CEO's today are nothing like that. They are hired guns, hired from outside, know little about the business. What they do know and what they are hired for is knowing how to play Wall Street and shareholders to maximize cash in pocket to the shareholders.

Nobody makes long-term investments anymore. Buy stocks and hold them for years like my father did. People hold stocks for ten days. I've flipped stocks recently in as little as ten minutes. It's a whole different world and my knowledge of investing through the 60s, 70s, 80s is useless today.

None of this is good long-term business practice.

Unnecessary "junk" fees add up.

This Administration is doing something about it.

@rami The stockholders want it. The CEO has no choice but to comply or be replaced. The shareholders want cash freed up for stock buybacks which will drive up the stock value.
