@shuttersparks
Thanks for the information.
I worked alongside excellent AM news producers/reporters when I was a print reporter. They were among the first casualties of ClearChanneling and media consolidation, and I miss them still.

@stevegrunwell Agreed. It's all I use on all devices except Raspberry Pi machines.
Those were fun days, coding web pages to detect the browser type and execute different code, depending. Not.

@SurrealSeal @SpockResists It's both. He and many of his adherents are walking examples of: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E2%80%93Kruger_effect
@Eohippa @dtelder @vfrmedia @w7voa I use Motorola phones and they always include an FM receiver (88-108 MHz). Better than nothing. It uses the headphone cord as an antenna.
Medium wave AM broadcast reception would be problematic in a cell phone because of the antenna required. Plus, the antenna would have to be located right next to RF noise sources that are a problem with AM. FM is noise-immune.

They have made no move to ensure that our cell phones can pick up radio signals of any kind, despite the fact that the FCC early on promised this feature.
Most people on this thread probably already listened to Katie Thornton's podcast, "The Divided Dial." I cannot recommend it highly enough.
In rural places w/ crap cell service, even as the shadow of its former self, replete w/ Christian Nationalist owners like Salem running things, AM radio is vital.
Here's a nice summation of Donald Trump. I wish I had written it.
@oliphant Funny you should say that. I've long imagined that conversations like those in the indictment might have taken place if those people are really as crazy as it seemed. So I'm not blown-away-shocked. But seeing it there on paper is quite something to get my head around. They really did hope to overthrow the government and they really did intend to use the military to enforce the "new order".
@SpockResists Just another example of Trump's complete ignorance of civics or what "free speech" means. It's not what he thinks it means.
@ajbobo Well, that's what 14 year-olds do: eat. I remember when I was one such and remember the astonishing amount of food I and my friends would eat in one sitting. My three are now approaching middle-age and were the same way. The eldest two are tall and skinny, and still pack the food in. Haha.
@wdlindsy I mean, you know he's not going to push a $700 million "gift" without something in it for himself. With Trump, *everything* is a transaction.
@ai6yr Well, that's darn good for a refrigerator on the surface of Venus.
It's stunning to shop for groceries today. The cheapest apples are $1.00 each??? I remember when apples were a nickel each. Russet potatoes were ten cents a pound.
To keep wages in line with the conditions in the 1950s, minimum wage should be around $24 an hour.
The Republicans oppose abortion, meaning they support having lots of kids. How can you raise a bunch of kids with food prices like this?
Better not have any kids. You can't afford one.
