@nullagent Disgusting but typical. Police departments have a lot of political "pull" and they use that power to protect themselves and quash oversight. The whole design is screwed up. Fixing it is straightforward but impossible in this country because politicians are in bed with the cops. The idea of police that serve the people like they do in other countries is unthinkable in the U.S.A. because the official function of police in the U.S.A. is wrongheaded. The function of police in the U.S.A. is to protect the government from the people -- totally backwards from the normal definition of civil police.
So, we're stuck with it.
In the wake of a Seattle cop(the VP of the cop union) getting caught laughing about a woman the department had killed, SPD ends contract with the company responsible for reviewing body cam footage.
Why is this even a contract managed by the cops? Really seems like anything involving bodycam management should not be run by the corrupt cops.

@TruthSandwich Sigh.
@netblocks Well, Russia has an energy infrastructure too. Large substation transformers are not easy to replace, not off the shelf items. Strike selected ones in an important industrial area so failover doesn't work.
Tit for tat is always the most effective strategy.
@SueInRockville Yeah, don't expect an improvement. This guy is like his dad but on steroids.
There is now a blood test that can detect if someone took #abortion medication mifepristone. It is already being used by police in Poland investigating pregnancy outcomes. It is NOT yet available in the US - but it is likely only a matter of time. https://jezebel.com/there-are-now-tests-that-can-detect-if-someone-took-abo-1850839647

@TonyStark Hmm. When I was in high school, everyone had read it. I don't think it was required reading but it didn't have to be.
This doesn’t look like concern about the sexual musings of a young woman. It’s a convenient red herring excuse to ban a book on the Holocaust, which in truth is what they really don't want taught.
Apparently fascist political systems don't like fascism actually being studied and understood within those systems.

Ukrainian HUR military intel trooper "Conan" fell out of his assault craft as it manouevred rapidly to evade Russian warplane cannon fire
"Conan is now a legend not only of the unit, but also of all special forces"
Conan tells Ukrainian Pravda: "I knew perfectly well that the crew of the boat, which is 13 people, is more precious than me alone"
"The current was very strong... I did not stop [swimming] for a moment because it would have carried me further and further from my reference point"
As Conan struggled against fatigue, dehydration, a falling core temperature and hallucinations, Ukrainian forces were looking for him with a Bayraktar drone
They finally found him by spotting heat traces from seagulls that had perched on him
"That's how it was reported that there is an object that floats in the direction of Odessa and 'rides' seven seagulls"
A HUR team zipped in on a rescue boat amid more enemy aerial fire to scoop up Conan
"Now, as much as I can, I will try to convey my story to other people. Why? So they do not give up"
@meltedcheese People in the U.S.A. seem to have forgotten that the U.S. Supreme Court ruled about 120 years ago that you do not have the right to endanger your fellow citizens and that this overrides the First Amendment (Bill of Rights) in the Constitution.
The power to enforce this is very great (the extent of it would shock most Americans) and is in the hands of the governors of the states. But none of them seem to have the courage to use that power today. It was used during the Spanish Flu Epidemic and is credited with saving at least 20,000 lives in the City of San Francisco alone.
@_9CL7T9k8cjnD_ That sounds like a challenging project. Plus, it's always fun to do something illegal. Hahaha.
SDRs have revolutionized parts of ham radio. It's great. As for me, I get the most fun out of a simple radio, headphones, and Morse Code. Although one could use an SDR for that too. The thrill (magic) for me is chatting with someone thousands of miles away using small simple equipment and the power it takes to light a small lightbulb.
@karlauerbach I'm going to check into that as soon as I have time. Sunday, I hope.
@_9CL7T9k8cjnD_ I've checked mine for about eight weeks. It's different and unique each time. One time out of those eight it came up unique and trackable. The other seven times not trackable. Why, I don't know. I haven't delved into the details of it yet.
