@tychi You can use git --format-patch and git --apply-patch (I think, it's been a while) to do collaboration with git over email. My understanding is that this is how most people contribute to the kernel.
fun with computer science
@icedquinn That's neat! It's like an inside out version of Knuth's "literate programming."
Today we can make public a development @opensuse
image for the @PINE64 #Pinephone with the @kde Plasma Mobile desktop environment 😀 https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/devel:/ARM:/Factory:/Contrib:/PinePhone/images/
@sotolf@fosstodon.org @garritfra ah I see now.
They're both pretty far from CWM. I think I'm just going to suck it up and try to translate as much of my (fairly short) config as I can when the time comes to fully switch to Wayland.
@garritfra If you want to see what sway would be like without going through and making sure polkit etc. is set up correctly for Wayland you can try i3 on X11 and see what you think, which sway is supposedly a drop-in replacement for.
@garritfra sway isn't quite drop-in but having used both it's very similar.
@icedquinn @lucifargundam Mine works as a phone I just have to reboot if I want to make a phone call and have locked it since the last time I rebooted. This is supposedly fixed in mobian with the eg.25 firmware update
@unnnmslymchlmps Are you arguing morals are something you consent to? Or are you saying that morals always involve multiple people and that the entire group of people involved has to consent?
@lucifargundam Use apk search from the terminal. If you want more applications install guix, most of the missing stuff is in there and I think it brings its own libc for you.

Apropos ... various thoughts (he'd have been 101 this year), looking at Isaac Asimov's Wikipedia bio.
He wrote or edited over 500 books, and an estimated 90,000 letters or postcards.
Asimov died in 1992, aged 72. His letter-writing probably started somewhere between ages 10 and 20, I'll assume 22 for round numbers.
90,000 letters in 50 years is just under 5/day, or 150/month.
If he'd begun at age 12, for a career of 60 years, it's 4/day or 125/month.
(And I suspect that the "estimated" is based on working backwards from the number of items sent in a typical day / week / month / year.)
I suspect many people's social media activity greatly exceeds this in quantity, if not quality.
@icedquinn Virgins would probably do it the best, they only have their imagination and haven't been disappointed by reality yet.
@reddit_lisp Someone was talking about this on the Guile mailing list and it sounds really cool!

Email mastodon+swiley@swiley.net (this makes all of my computers beep and turn on an indicator light and is always the fastest way to reach me.) I was on octodon a while ago but abandoned my account. I've never been a member of gab or parlor.
If you’d like to learn to program I would consider the SICP [1] more or less the peak of American CS pedagogy (at least as far as beginners go) along with “The Practice of Programming” once you get through that.
I play ukulele, I’m ok at reading music and decent at improv. I learned from Walter Piston’s “Harmony” and some of Adam Neely’s videos.
My main phone is a pine phone so if I don’t pick up when you call the battery is probably dead, the modem is probably dead, or I’m currently swearing at calls/pulseaudio/alsa. I’d strongly recommend sending an email instead.
Dispite what my web page says I’ve stopped uploading my scratch projects to GitHub once I started to understand the basics of collaboration with git. I was using the flamegraph as gamification/motivation but it doesn’t work as well with feature branch/squash merge workflows so I just keep most things on my VPS until I’m happy with publishing updates.
