@DeveloperMemes It's bad because Apple is extracting money from it.
Unless you need push notifications just build a web app (and even then there's smtp and xmpp.)
@fatboy "don't break two laws at once." Why anyone would pirate Windows is beyond me though.
@garritfra I also would like to hear, I have bits and pieces of a khanban board with a plain text database (so you can keep it in a git repo) but I haven't finished it yet.
@aligyie I guess they can get away with a Qualcomm chip because they don't need hardware graphics.
I've been so turned off to that company by how abusive they are with their IP and drivers I don't think I'll ever buy anything with any of their SoCs in it again.
@SEEK It's a good book. I found it in the university library as a freshman and me and a friend went through the first couple chapters together. I haven't found a better book for teaching absolute beginners to program either.
@icedquinn @purple I've never done AVR but I know pic assembly is super easy (because it's the only way the chips were intended to be programmed.)

#postmarketOS now boots on Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G! #Linux
@pants @freemo @mathlover @bonifartius Kicking out someone merely for an idea (rather than harassment which is what the ranter would be doing) *is* censorship.
@pants @bonifartius @freemo @mathlover Most people would prefer *stopping* oppressors to silencing them.
Kicking a Nazi off twitter is something you do to look good.
@mathlover I've never had a good opinion of that distro. They've also accidentally shipped malware in their ISOs. The only arguments I've heard for it are the WM and that they ship some non-free and legally gray software so WiFi and DVDs don't need any extra work.
@thenewoil In college we had a class that had CTF exercises in it. I usually wrote malware in Go for that. It's one of those things the language/runtime/ecosystem is just better for.
@icedquinn TBH I don't get too surprised when people block blob.cat (although doing so seems immature.)
Blocking fostodon (and people associating it with the extreme right) seems incredibly stupid and is what always shocks me. There's probably something I'm missing though.
@allison Gentoo on my main computer and Alpine on everything else including my phone and email server. I'm thinking about moving to Guix though.
swiley.net
Email mastodon+swiley@swiley.net (this makes all of my computers beep and turn on an indicator light and is always the fastest way to reach me.) I was on octodon a while ago but abandoned my account. I've never been a member of gab or parlor.
If you’d like to learn to program I would consider the SICP [1] more or less the peak of American CS pedagogy (at least as far as beginners go) along with “The Practice of Programming” once you get through that.
I play ukulele, I’m ok at reading music and decent at improv. I learned from Walter Piston’s “Harmony” and some of Adam Neely’s videos.
My main phone is a pine phone so if I don’t pick up when you call the battery is probably dead, the modem is probably dead, or I’m currently swearing at calls/pulseaudio/alsa. I’d strongly recommend sending an email instead.
Dispite what my web page says I’ve stopped uploading my scratch projects to GitHub once I started to understand the basics of collaboration with git. I was using the flamegraph as gamification/motivation but it doesn’t work as well with feature branch/squash merge workflows so I just keep most things on my VPS until I’m happy with publishing updates.
