Cindy Gladue is not to be remembered as a victim, says her family, but as a woman with a “joyful, loving spirit.”

Gladue, 36, a Cree and Métis woman, was killed in an Edmonton hotel room in June 2011.

“As the Supreme Court concluded, ‘the criminal justice system … let her down — indeed, it let us all down,’” read Gladue family friend Julie Kaye on Jan. 5 in a prepared statement from the family.

You are an animal with a nervous system embedded in a society in overshoot of ecological limits with governance and economic systems more focused on symptomatic fixes than changing to acknowledge root causes.

Of course you are sad, scared, mad, or numb at least some of the time! Those feelings are sensing mechanisms. They're adaptive. They're part of self-organization in complexity.

What's shocking about this is the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) appears to be working with Meta to protect their illegal, unconsenting use of people's data. Eg refusing to release the regulators' full legal decision text to the plaintiff, let alone the public. Heads need to roll at the DPC and potentially in the institutions where those heads are chosen (the Irish Parliament? Anyone know? @pluralistic?)
