In rural Wyoming, the mail goes through.

' “Quite a winter!” [Tebra] Morris said of covering her route this past winter. “If you think I-80 was bad, [Highway] 287 North was closed more.

“I spent seven nights total stuck overnight in Lander. I ran nine days on closed roads with permission. In the month of February, I was able to complete my route ... only 12 times. I've been doing this 11 years and I’ve never had a winter like that.” '

people are always trying to design a better keyboard for a given language but maybe we should go the other way

design a language to be easy to type

Reader, I did not hire this web designer.

Lessons, living with parents with dementia: when an app on their phone spontaneously changes it's icon, it's a fucking disaster.

Some Google engineer launched a feature that got them a promotion and now my mom can't use her phone anymore. Silicon Valley is incapable of imagining a user who isn't a 27 year old white man.

Inside every software company there are two modes: https://aaadaaam.com/notes/building-vs-optimizing/

We only see them in early summer and late fall.

Złapano pieska, który sikał na drzewo w Parczewie, ale go uniewinniono.

@emilygorcenski I'm a cat person but I got to say, small cats and big cats are not all that different. Pretty sure small cats would be as "NOT FRIEND" as big cats if we gave them a choice. Either that or big cats would be "friend" if humans weren't so dang squishy and could give them lower risk scritches.

My working theory is domestication of most animals involves breeding the cat out of them. Cats can't be de-catted because then there is nothing left.

Still true

@emilygorcenski I met (in a zoo) a few of these recently

Can confirm cats the size of small dogs are not to be messed with.

Poland’s embassy says it is “appalled” by training material produced by a German government office that includes a fictional Polish mother whose son is afraid of coming out because, "as a faithful Catholic, she hates gays and will reject him".

This spreads "anti-Polish stereotypes that Poles hate homosexual people", says the ambassador, who wants the material withdrawn.

Just accidentally typed "docs.mew" instead of "docs.new" into the browser address bar, and now I think there should be a .mew TLD for #cats content. :catvibes:

These climate activists are really causing havoc by blocking traffic.

@DJDarren @notjustbikes

calling these things "tanks" is not fair to the tank. An M1 tank driver has better forward visibility than the driver of many full-size pickup trucks

Sat next to one of those stupid big imported US tanks at a traffic light earlier. Had a fleeting thought that the roof of my Mini was about the same height as its bonnet.

And yeah, it was.

Those things are ridiculous.

i occasionally turn back on a torrent that has been stuck on 85% for years just to see if any seeders came back to it in and it's always just been a bunch of leechers stuck on the same percentage, but today I turned it on and I got seeders o_o

apparently at some point in the last few months a seeder came back and now the complete torrent is back in the wild and it feels like in those fantasy stories where the gods/magic left the world but then suddenly returned
