#FreudianTypoOfTheMonth
Compose pile (n. phrase): The decomposing remains of abandoned drafts.
@CommanderViral nowadays, I just see if whatever use-case can be accomplished somehow in #TiddlyWiki. An actual multi-column layout may be non-trivial, though.
Instead of "Threads" - which hijacks a generic term widely used in the fediverse - let's call Meta's server by a more accurate name; Chains. Maybe also try to use a generic use claim, to quash Meta's trademark claim on Threads use in a social media business. Ideally in as many jurisdictions as possible.
FYI: IANAL. Any trademark lawyers in the house?
It's a pity that #XMPP extensions (#XEP) are so badly understood and there is so much misinformation on them.
Because the principle is really great: you have an idea, you explain it, and how to implement it, it's discussed, and evolves with feedback. *Anybody* can do it, you don't even need to be #XSF member.
Maybe later, an other idea, or a better version replace it, and it works thanks to the neat discovery mechanism of XMPP.
One of the main reasons why I've stuck with this #protocol.
@alex an explanation I derived from what I know
- only lungs can jettison CO² from the body
- colds (severe/advanced) impair lung function
- physical activity demands a lot of CO² jettisoning
If the above combination leads to CO² build-up in the blood, I am not sure how long a rest is needed to recover and what can happen in the interim.
@lefuturiste no domain expert here. What does membership involve, that needs software to manage?

> with enough eyes, all bugs are shallow
and
> number of bugs ≈ lines of code
huh. So, with enough code, there are so many bugs that all eyes are blind!
The problem I have with this, respectfully, is that it has such "Why not stay within the Democratic Party and fight for Left policies within it?" vibes, when actual experience has shown that that approach has utterly failed to achieve any progress.
The issue here is not individual instances federating with Meta/Threads; it's the aggressive threat that Meta's fundamental operational business/social media model is to the very concept of the Fediverse.
@qqmrichter hilarious!
The malaise has spread beyond software too. eg. Hardware verification code has also been run over by such monstrosities.
@strypey the one best way is termed #Monism, I believe, and is historically a fallout of #Monotheism
When an app asks for permissions, the OS should not only let you answer yes or no. Every category should havev a "yes, but feed the app fake data" option.
Want my contacts for no reason? Have these generated fake ones! Wanna listen to my microphone? Here's random ambiance sounds! Location? I'm on a tiny 5x5m island!
Hell yeah! Put it all in your databases!
Actively sabotaging and punishing services wins over boycotts any day.
Long rant about "obsolete" languages (not); contains swearing
@alecui
Good rants! But a bit unidimensional, all are imperative languages. I am sure that actually says something about the developer "electorate".
@jsq Every time I hear someone demand raised salaries to beat inflation I'm thinking, they know how much we make and how much we spend. They'll know if we get a raise and they'll just manipulate us into spending that money as well. @terrygrundy recently wrote that reading is an act of resistance, and I agree. But I'd go a step further and argue that not spending money is the ultimate act of resistance.
@jsq ohhhfff! Couldn't they just say "Privacy: None" ?
@jsq at least it will have people and content unlike mastodon
@jsq i’ve yet to meet a person who cares about data collection that doesn’t work in the tech industry.
@hrefna “much more” still starts from defederating them
