For all y'all struggling with the egg shortage/ inflation:
1 TBSP of ground flax seed in 2.5 TBSP of warm water (let sit until it thickens) will sub for eggs in most baking recipes.

NZ politics - term limit for PM
@strypey sorry, I meant to say "trend of such parties doing better".
I think it comes back to this. Isn't telling the electorate that they are wrong to focus on individual leaders infantalizing them? Media circus or not, it looks like people prefer to choose leaders who then choose policies.
Focusing on policies makes sense for referendums; maybe more policies need referendums?
NZ politics - term limit for PM
@strypey works for the electorate? The trend of parties with declared leadership is there.

@strypey a presidential style is what seems to work the world over. Parties that don't announce an intended Prime Minister tend to lose or govern as part of some hobbled-together hobbled coalition.
Again, rejecting the Presidential style would be infantilizing the populace's preference for clarity on leadership.

@strypey relatedly, a voluntary step taken by a much-maligned political party in India is to exclude people over 70 from organizational and electoral positions.
By the way, there is no need for any such rules to be enforced if there is atleast 1 democratically-minded party in the fray.
Though that does infantilze the populace as being unable to look past PR. If that were true, maybe they get the leader they deserve?
Contributions from corporate polluters, who are best placed to afford full coverage from user-pays insurance, would have to be locked in. But small business could be allowed to opt-out of both payments *and* coverage. If they really think climate change is a hoax, then they also think they're facing the same natural disaster risk they always have, which user-pays insurance is adequate to cover. Right? I'd really like to see them put their money where their mouth is.
e.g. @radio@infosec.exchange who seems to be in Britain posted about happenings in India. It is unfortunately not obvious that the post and its subject are divorced from the democratic and judicial realities on the ground.
The benign interpretation of this divorce of those opinions from reality is that spouting uninformed opinion on far-off places is a hobby for such people.

#SocialNetwork feature thought.
Profiles and posts should be geo-taggable (approximately, of course), so that it is easy to correlate if an account claims proximity to regions on which its messages post opinions about. It would make it clear when non-journalists #troll about events in far-off places that they don't have a clue about.
That is something that happens far too often online. Anybody who wants that can go watch the news.

@strypey don't insurance policies state that loss due to "acts of God" are excluded from coverage?
@strypey Would also like to see disaster insurance that was insulated from the collapse of the insurance industry, in case that’s a thing that happens.
@Theraviranjankr data, not information?
@radio@infosec.exchange Blaming a very well appreciated administration getting re-elected like clockwork for over 2 decades, for its handling of an impossible situation is quite wimpy. Anti-democratic too.
When an aggressive big demographic torches a train carrying devotees from the biggest demographic, how can the situation be controlled? It is difficult even as a thought exercise.

@radio@infosec.exchange Did the BBC also make a documentary on the anti-Sikh riots of 1984? Or the killings of cow protection activists a decade before that? Or the riots created by the British partition of India, where 40,000 British soldiers sat around in their camps while a million died around them?
No, probably since the governments in those instances was singing Britain's tune?

@lightweight That period of time was approximately 2005-2015. Google is still the main sponsor of Fosdem, and for a long time it has recruited from free software developers (GSoC, etc). So even if some of them had ethical reservations there is always a reluctance to raise any issues which might make your employer look bad or get you fired from a well paid job.
There is also a lesson here for the fediverse. Beware if admins of large instances become employees of BigTech companies. If they do then that's the time to move to another instance.
Skim profits?
I was under the impression those people worked hard, donated their time and equipment and deserved to be compensated.
Am I wrong?
