@mattskala Where are you moving?
Ah, OK. It sounds like a lot of maintenance and duplicity as opposed to keeping all SW somewhere central.
Haven't you found a good alternative to GH? Is GL not good enough? Is it license, governance, pricing…?
Just curious :)
@tripu Well, "software development" isn't my mission. It's not a single thing I do, that might be inconvenient to have fragmented. On the contrary, I have a bunch of projects that are hosted in different places, and some of them include aspects of software development.
So it doesn't make sense to take just the software out of Tsukurimashou, just the software out of North Coast Synthesis, etc., and put those separated fragments all in one place just to say all the software is in one place.
@tripu Furthermore, to the extent that I need version control for various purposes, Git isn't what I want to use for that. So I only ever used Github at all because other people's projects forced me to, and at this point given its steady decline, I feel okay with telling such people "You shouldn't be on Github, and I won't participate in your activities there."
@mattskala I see!
@tripu I don't plan to replace my GitHub account with anything specific, but various pieces of free software written by me are available through osdn.net, ctan.org, and my own web sites at ansuz.sooke.bc.ca and northcoastsynthesis.com.
