Backed up and deleted my GitHub account. I had planned to just let it lie fallow, but I got a notice that I was being auto-subscribed to notifications from a new repository at my old workplace, and although I can unsubscribe from that and turn off the feature that invoked it this time, if I leave the account untouched without configuring 2FA, then I won't be able to log in to unsubscribe from or de-configure other such things. That tips the balance toward not having an account at all.
@mattskala Where are you moving?
@tripu I don't plan to replace my GitHub account with anything specific, but various pieces of free software written by me are available through osdn.net, ctan.org, and my own web sites at ansuz.sooke.bc.ca and northcoastsynthesis.com.
Ah, OK. It sounds like a lot of maintenance and duplicity as opposed to keeping all SW somewhere central.
Haven't you found a good alternative to GH? Is GL not good enough? Is it license, governance, pricing…?
Just curious :)
@mattskala I see!
