@freemo What does that mean? Isn't your fork in sync with changes upstream?
Your original toot says that being anti woke is “being anti awareness/knowledge/understanding”. So I interpret that being woke to you means “being in favour of awareness/knowledge/understanding”. I don't know a single person who is against those abstract ideas. Almost everyone would be woke, even if they reject the label (like me).
Congratulations, you have a useless word.
That's why I suggested “specific and actionable”.

That interpretation of the world sounds very comforting indeed.
> _“#Research shows #conservatives tend to have an internal locus of control, which means they believe that their decisions, as opposed to external forces, control their destiny. #Liberals, meanwhile, tend to have an external locus, which means they believe their lives are determined by forces beyond their control. People with an internal locus of control […] tend to be happier and have healthier habits, like good diets and frequent exercise, while people with an external locus of control […] have higher rates of anxiety and depression and are more likely to abuse drugs and neglect their #health. When you believe you have no control, you don’t.”_

I'm sceptical, because I've read and heard from #woke people _themselves_, and still I found myself disagreeing strongly with their interpretation of things and their proposed policies.
But OK, I'm open to what you say.
What is “woke” to you, then? The definition has to be specific and actionable — ie, not a synonym for abstract ideas such as “nice”, “fair” or “reasonable”, because the vast majority of humans agree with all that already.
When an app asks for permissions, the OS should not only let you answer yes or no. Every category should havev a "yes, but feed the app fake data" option.
Want my contacts for no reason? Have these generated fake ones! Wanna listen to my microphone? Here's random ambiance sounds! Location? I'm on a tiny 5x5m island!
Hell yeah! Put it all in your databases!
Actively sabotaging and punishing services wins over boycotts any day.
That is brilliant.
Not at all. I appreciate politics and I have opinions. I am not “woke” because I don't agree with many ideas or actions that are associated with that label (and those to me determine the actual meaning of the word). All the nice things you mentioned (knowledge, learning, etc) are orthogonal to the #woke / anti-woke axis.
Don't you think it's a definitional issue? “Woke” means different things to different people.
Many of us were pro awareness, knowledge, understanding, Enlightenment, learning and introspection before 2008 — and still are today. It's unfair to presume so much malice or ignorance of so many people just because we oppose a specific, very politicised label.
I think more like naive, idealistic, petulant contrarians. But yeah, in any case their (ambiguous) position gets discredited automatically.
Six policy wonks with very strong views, six opinionated journalists rallying from their respective platforms against the #US “arming #Ukraine and fuelling a neocon proxy #war”.
The host, #ThaddeusRussell, asks the most relevant question: _“It's **absolutely essential** that we clarify our position here, otherwise we are sitting ducks for what they say about us. **Otherwise, it becomes true that we are #Putin stooges**. […] This is essential, I need to know from you guys, as fan of yours: **where do you actually stand on this?**”_
Genius 1: _“I favour the cessation or mitigation of warfare rather than the perpetuation of it”_.
Host: _“OK. So does that mean a negotiated settlement, giving #Russia Donbas and Crimea, and nothing else?”_
Genius 1: _“I only really have a principle which is to cease the warfare rather than perpetuate it”_.
Genius 2: _“I think there should be negotiations. I'm not a diplomat, so I don't see a point in me putting a solution on the table.”_
Genius 3: _“As much as I weep for the the predicament of the people in Ukraine, ultimately my greater concern is for all of humanity and for World War III”_.
…And that's why I can't take seriously most of the naive anti-war rhetoric :P

Don't try this at home.
