I know it doesn't ultimately matter, but it's weird to be in a space for almost half of your life, and suddenly see former Blue Checkmarks roll in and suddenly command a substantial following out of nowhere.
Maybe I'm being insecure and petty, I dunno. It's just kind of a mindfuck.

They're the ones who created the authoritarian system they're fleeing because someone they don't like is in charge. If they want authoritarianism with someone they like in charge, they shouldn't bother leaving big tech.

@sean @sj_zero I think there may be a divide on the fediverse, with a crowd behaving in a similar way as they'd been doing and another population doing the tight knit anti-corporate thing ... why not? I'm just so excited to see many "followers" being exposed to a world where they are not the product ... it might open some eyes:)
They might discover that this is simply a much cooler party;)

Yeah, and as I sugested to @gretathunberg maybe we need have the confidence that we don't actually need corporates any more, with their profits before everything attitude.

@zleap @sean @sj_zero @gretathunberg I totally agree, and would go so far as to say that battling to have our voices heard by the corps is a distraction and a waste of time.
What we should be doing is building the solutions we need ourselves.
