qoto.org is stem based so should be fine, all the instances talk to the others, so your friend can still talk to people with different interest.

Have a chat to @freemo who is the qoto admin.

Here are my first Autism Infocards, Use them as you like within the Creative Commons (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).

Companies and nonprofits on fedi

@eqe Cool thanks for this will share,

Companies and nonprofits on fedi

If your company, media org, school, nonprofit, or fraternal organization wants to participate in the fediverse, there are two reasonable ways to do it:

1. Pay employees to run an instance.
2. Pay a hosting company such as fedi.monster to run an instance for you.

Making an account for an organization that has cashflow, on an instance that's run by volunteers and supported by individual contributions, is incredibly bad form.

(Maybe some instances will decide to accept organizational accounts, possibly in return for a support fee; that's on them, and I'd be happy to hear about such decisions. But it's certainly not a default expectation!)

:boost_ok:

@atomicpoet

Yeah you try and tell people about facebook / big tech and just get laughed at or negative comments.

meta about organisations on the fedi

@aurynn So where should we direct people to that suggests companies set up their own instance.

Or can we word that so they can come here, test the water then ask for help as to where to get started.

@pb
All this Reminds me of Star wars EP IV and Darth Vader

To paraphrase, it will be a year long remembered, it has first seen the end of Twitter and will soon see the end of Big Tech

, '

The last time i ordered some business cards, was last year, I included a small mastodon logo and my fedi id.

little did I know what was going to happen in November 2022 would make doing that so worthwhile. I wasn't even thinking ahead.

A huge Congratulations to @mimimayes For getting reported for several toots for "trolling" noobs.

"This is clearly not a real user. "She" is using the newness of the site to try and discover twitter refugees and troll them."

This cracked me up.

@jaz

At this rate the Twitter servers will be devoid of users by Christmas.

@davidoclubb yay :) lets get some pics of Wales up to promote the scenery etc.

The lawsuit that could rewrite the rules of AI copyright / Microsoft, GitHub, and OpenAI are being sued for allegedly violating copyright law by reproducing open-source code using AI. But the suit could have a huge impact on the wider world of artificial intelligence.

@bestforbritain I wonder how much schools could save by switching to Free Software

No idea why schools need to buy MS office, especially primary schools, Some schools do use @LibreOffice
