Queerphobia, harassment, call for help

I'm not as publicly exposed here as on the birdsite. So I can afford to post without anonymising. I'm so angry at what's happening at my workplace

A mostly closeted #queer colleague has been recently outed to the management. They are being harassed and framed presumably in order to throw them out. Before this escalates further, we're trying to help them find another job. Do you all have any leads for #vacancies in #Bengaluru colleges for #teaching #English?

White dudes with cash offering to "take over" smaller instances who are struggling financially are not Not NOT the answer to this endless fucking problem.

@samyalkenawi
It seems the main difference between China and the west is their ability to not only innovate, but also to create huge armies of techies, they seem to know how important certain industries are such as computing, hardware, quantum computing , space and are preparing their next generation en masse for this.

Meanwhile the US takes 15 attempts to decide on a speaker, and is not investing enough, the same for the UK and perhaps other countries. The UK is currently being crippled by endless strikes too.

The UK has sold off IP / industry to China and other countries so we are at the mercy of overseas owners, job cuts won't start in the country of the owners.

When is the west going to wake up and really start to invest in skills we need now and in the future, the Uk has over 100k vacancies for the NHS but the governmet are in denial and totally clueless.

The west can't afford to be left behind in the next tech revolution, the same for space, we need to be able to innovate and get to the Moon, mars and beyond in order to reap the long term rewards of this.

Dear friends, as of 31st of January,

any design work please do not hesitate to get a quote from me or refer to me, doesn't matter how small or big the project is.

Thanks in advance.

Disclaimer : I am not sure if this is the right way to solve this,

You can add a user to the sudo group, this will allow users to run things as if they were root for example

sudo apt install <program>
you then enter your user password
<program> is installed

It is probably a better alternative to using su (or su -), which then needs you to give people the root password.

I holepunched an envelope and put it in my binder notebook to use as a pocket.

@TransRadioUK

Perhaps change where / how people share these stories, A good opportunity to reset the balance and share on fediverse, using say peertube, mastodon etc. That way the Transcommunity can get a real foothold with regard to content and share in, what I see (I am not gay or trans btw) as a far more civilised and accepting community.

As soon as you post to mainstream social media, you let the trolls loose, regardless of who you are.

I am not sure if this is the answer, or what the answer is, but I would say 'just tell your story',

Once the stories / content is out there, it can be shared, boosted etc. Mainstream media will probably eventually pick up on them, they picked up when people left twitter in huge numbers and for a while Mastodon at least made the headlines.

@rasmansa

Hopefully one of my followers may see this and know someone who uses and can get in touch.

@rasmansa We are here, I am not much of a programmer, so will boost and leave you with a link to Trunk communitywiki.org/trunk/grab/P. Which lanaguages are you using ?

Where is the tech community on Mastodon? Where are my programming geeks?

Here's a quick recap of what we did in the #LibreOffice community in 2022! Well, just a few of the many things 😉 youtube.com/watch?v=iyHQ1yRLA9

I am not sure, I asking if these issues are related to companies being hacked.

@aral

I am not a security expert but when I look at things like this, then read about security issues at Lastpass and other companies, is there a link. Surely the industry needs to get it's act together ASAP over all this.
