Yeah, the problem with that is, that any program now that bases a report on actual science won't be taken seriously as no one will be able to trust it, so important messages will be lost.
So when the British government are hauled in to court by the UN over kicking out all asylum seekers who cross in boats, even those who are in danger of being executed in their home country, will the BBC report this or show something else. ?
Not airing an important episode of Attenborough's new nature programme, Wild Isles, because telling the truth about natural destruction in the UK might upset the govt.
Sacking Gary Lineker for his accurate analysis of the govt's illegal immigration bill.
Fiona Bruce minimising Stanley Johnson's domestic violence on Question Time last night.
What the hell is happening to the BBC?
As a fan of the BBC, what's going on is an absolute disgrace ☹️

There was a time when the BBC was not allowed to advertise, Blue Peter, the kids program was a good example of where they would cover up the cereal packet (or other product) to hide the branding as part of the program section where they would make something, these days thatis called product placement, which happens ALL the time, and more so on the sports programs where they interview players behind a desk, where products such as coca cola bottles are placed in a promenent position at the front.
As far as I am aware the BBC is funded by license fees and NOT advertising, so does this issue with Gary Lineker strike of double standards.?
This is just a reminder...
That it's 100% ok to have a great idea that you know you could do and be good at, yet choose to not do it because you either don't have the heart or the mental energy for it.
It doesn't make you a quitter or a loser.
It just means that you have other things in your life that you need to take care of first.
And that's ok.
BP’s CEO recently boasted that in '22 his company had its “lowest production cost in 16 years.”
As you paid through the nose at the pump, BP raked in $27.7 billion in profits — up from $12.8 billion in '21.

yes we need to be careful as to making comparisons, This is where Gary Lineker got in trouble, BUT he does have a point, or the language prompts discussion.
History is starting to repeat, if you consider book banning and how trans people are treated in some states, some of trumps language is very hostile towards trans groups.
No problem, happy to help, it is really nice when we can exchange ideas like this.
Well language is key, we can be assertive we can say I don't use facebook as has no respect for privacy.
I read an article (well it was a translated article) where facebook said they see children as untapped wealth.
Quite right, and the fediverse are aware of this, and are already planning to fight back.
It is how we counter this that is important, I am not techy enough to get how to do that.
@jupiter_rowland
Well no, but let him try and take over here and we can show him and those who use his wretched technology who is boss.

Yeah, you would need to be pretty robust mentally to listen to those stories.
“Blackburn says researchers will continue to find a way to scrutinize what’s happening on #Twitter. ‘We’ve been mostly cut off from Facebook for years and continued to make progress,’ he says. ‘It’s not like #science is going to be held hostage by a guy that played himself into burning $44 billion on a website that makes no money, just so he could force all its users to read his shitposts.’”

Palomar 3, also cataloged as Sextans C among other designations and seen here in an excellent image by astronomer David Ratledge, is a distant globular star cluster approximately twice as far away as the Magellanic Clouds, thus located in the outer halo of the Milky Way. The distance of this cluster from Earth is 299,600 light years and from the galactic center is about.....

If European farmers are forced to abandon 10% of farmland, this will lead to:
👉Increased food prices
👉More imports of unsafe food that does not meet EU standards
👉Even a global famine
👉Farmers out of business

The problem here could be the word force, perhaps we in a lot of cases can try and suggest what the issue with big tech is, if people don;t want to listen, move along to the next person.
At some point those who didn't listen will be left behind,
