So can the people that run the factory be charged with corporate manslaughter (or what ever that would be in the US ), here in the UK employees have a duty of care, maybe things are different in the US.

I am sure however you have health and safety laws to protect workers.

@drq @ZySoua @uu @kafazen

Ah thanks, great video though, looks like they start with an old nail.

@VictorVenema @onepict This is one of the unfortunate downsides of breaking up the Bell System in the US. Yes, it brought rates down and accelerated Internet adoption. But it also basically killed Bell Labs, which was essentially funded by an indirect “tax” on communications services. We should have made that tax explicit and the research output public.

@yogthos@mastodon.social In the case of isreal anyone who dares question what is going on is branded anti semetic.

I think there is a difference between anti Semitism and having a rational discussion as to why Palestinian homes are being bulldozed to make way for homes for people from Israel. The latter is a critique of the government of Israel, the former is just hating jews (as far as I am aware).

We will never solve the issues in that region until we can have a proper debate and negotiations.

@yogthos@mastodon.social I watched a bbc program the other day (cookery program) Rick Stein (I think( was in Iran

Granted he was looking at cooking, but thisis a normal country, with normal people do ing the same thing the rest of us do daily, Go to work, go to markets, buy cook food etc. Have family Meals.

This is far from the portrait you see in the news or other media, that portrays Iran as medieval (or you get that idea).

Same with blaming Russia / china for hack attacks, are the to blame or are people there just taking advantage of peoples stupidity when it comes to security. I say stupidity as apparently 123456 is still a common password despite people being told time and time again what makes a GOOD password.

@yogthos@mastodon.social I can understand why more than just Russia does not trust the west either look at Afghanistan, abandoned to the Taliban.

@yogthos@mastodon.social Or a killer virus, or other disease

@waronmorons @pamby1

100 years ago we didn't know how much we were damaging our ecosystems. We just took what we wanted, 20th Century saw two world wars, countless nuclear bomb tests and massive expansion on the use of oil for example.

It was only when we started to send the right satellites in to space we started to see the damage we were causing.
