Oh yeah I really like the fact we have different accents and dialects anyway. I sometimes worry when I read about the government wanting everyone to speak the same way our regional indivdualty will be lost.

Lets clebrate the fact we have Liverpool (scouse), mancurian, geordie (Newcastle), Yorkshire, Cockney (East London) I like all thatr, granted some are harder to understand but that comes with time.

I like last of the summer wine, not just for the fact it is a good show, but the accents are great, one of the best lines is when Edie says to Glenda "Why are you shopping in Boutiques, you were brought up co-op" but the voice adds to that, very forthright and non compromising. Poor Glenda usually gets told "Drink your coffee".

Good point, I never know which or what to use. In some cases as different people will find fault either way. I think within reason if a message can be conveyed as intended, does it matter?

I tend to pick things up from TV, then read, hear elsewhere things like I mentioned, and think why does it matter? Without someone going in to great detail. However if I can convey that and be corrected and learn then that is great, what we are here for.

Now that is spooky, I was only yesterday, chatting to one of the parents at code club about the issue she has with her google phone, lots of photos but no easy way to get them off the phone and just as here I suggested nextcloud as a solution.

I have sent her a link to disroot. but the fact this advice pops up is a great coincidence.

I am not a English liguistic expert but apparently "To boldly go" (or in this case "To proudly go") should be "To go Proudly" (To go boldly" if one was to be using correct English.

It is time to show the arrogent tory government we are sick of them, esp given what has been disclosed this weekend with department staff having a party and dancing in December 2020 when people were dying from COVID and other conditions, could not see family members, could not attend school properly and a host of other restrictions.

The government are facing several by-elections, if they lose all of these by a large margin or landslide, Sunak may have zero choice but to call a general election now.

It is either the person who wrote / created the website or it is the fault of the person or entity who taught them those skills and failed to teach how to write a website that can work across all manner of screen sizes.

A few phonecalls to social services would hopefully result in investigations, could result in some kids being taken in to care. This would be harsh but the parents may on reflection realise they have made a mistake, and also look to take action against those who perhaps encouraged that action and hold them partly responsible.
