I’m going to keep boosting this stuff - if it irritates you I’ll start hashtagging #DeSantisFearsWords so you can mute the tag but this is a goddamned travesty.

At this point ‘grooming’ outside of pets has lost its meaning. This isn’t grooming with leftist ideologies - this just makes it easier to brainwash kids into cis/het white Christian theocracy. This is the goal. For us all. It’s not a coincidence that they banned Handmaids Tale.

@bleakfuture Remember the Brooklyn Library is providing free access to all teens anywhere in the US.

Not a fix, but it helps while we #DestroyMaga

HUGE VICTORY for freedom of expression - for authors' rights, children's rights, #LGBTQ+ rights, everyone - in the European Court of Human Rights today.

please share widely!

#Lithuania first banned & then imposed a warning label of a book of fairy tales that, among other things, depicted same sex relationships in a positive light. The Court today found that violated European guarantees of freedom of expression. details here: https://www.article19.org/resources/lithuania-free-expression-lgbtqi/

Just a heads up for interested North Island peeps, weather permitting the RNZAF will be flying a 3-ship Orion formation around the island tomorrow (24 Jan) to mark the formal retirement of the type at the end of this month, after 64 years of service (and several upgrades). I've put the times given by the RNZAF in the image alt text. A South Island flyover is planned for the 31st.

Another grab at Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) from early yesterday morning. As suspected, longer exposurez reveal more tail data.

If it weren't for lawyers being arbitrarily involved in things they shouldn't be, there's an excellent chance that we'd all be running BSD and Microsoft wouldn't have been nearly so dominant without BSD being legally sidelined in the early 90's, which gave Linux a very timely foothold, despite having to quickly reverse engineer a whole lot of what BSD long already had.

I'm looking for jobs! I'm a capable programmer, and I do game design, level design, music and sound too. I have almost 20 years of experience. My latest game is called Ynglet, you can check it out here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1015920/Ynglet/

@juddlegum just horrifying. Nearly 40 years working in public libraries, I am heartsick .Librarians mission is to protect the freedom to read. Now, in Florida, they are forced to be accomplices to the State’s fascist demands. And the kids. The kids! Denying them books is denying them the nourishment for the heart! I’m just sick. So fucking evil.

Yesterday we took the grandkids to Chabot Space and Science Center. Best part was looking through their telescope. Even though it was full daytime, we could see Jupiter and Venus. #astronomy #telescope #planets #Chabot

'The Gatekeeper'

This little Eurasian #Robin is the gatekeeper to the lake ahead. I'm sure he will let me pass. Cost, 2 peanuts.

People who jump at the chance to say "An AR-15 isn't an assault rifle" are the gun version of people that tell you "His name isn't Frankenstein, it's Frankenstein's monster".

You are technically correct. You are missing the point. Nobody likes you.

@zleap nah

Using Webb’s infrared abilities, researchers studied how starlight from beyond the molecular cloud was absorbed by the icy molecules within. This process left us with “chemical fingerprints,” or absorption lines, that could be compared with lab data to identify the molecules.

Magnetic method to clean PFAS contaminated water

I should stop caring who I talk to
if they're making a good conversation who cares as long as they're not breaking the law

unless they're an unmitigated shithead who cares

Does anyone still blog? I wrote a new post about a #photo project I'm working on, called What Is? Questions posed and seek to answer through the camera lens. An exploration journey. This one is called What is a Shadow? "A dark area or shape produced by a body coming between rays of light and a surface."
