When Republicans oppose common sense gun control legislation, their base doesn't really care. Much of their base *would like* that legislation, but it's not as big a deal to them as the other culture war stuff.
However, when the Democrats see this, get pissed off, and start talking about banning guns, that riles up the GOP base and gives the Republicans more sound bites to win elections off of.
It's a calculated play to get Democrats to mobilize the Republican base for them.

No Anderson, Trump's lies, treason, and criminality has permeated every fucking corner of American life. Dropping CNN like a sack full of angry vipers will not end that in any way. It'll just give CNN what it deserves for participating in the damage.
