@jeffjarvis A time of transition might be worth considering a transition away from Google...

I don't even understand how he expects this to work in theory.

(A) $1/year payments are going to have ridiculous percentage of finance charges.

(B) What bot owner can't afford this? And that's before you consider things like spoofed credit cards.

More of this nonsense. By the way they describe it, you'd almost think that receiving advice is as traumatic as war.

Wait, you think accidentally killing people only results in a $500 ticket? You're gonna need to cite a source on that one, because we clearly don't live in the same world.

In my state, vehicular manslaughter is a second-degree felony.

@interfluidity Those who think technology can fix humanity haven't had enough experience with humans.

@mmasnick @AnnemarieBridy How do I get mass audience waves for my opinions? Do my opinions need to be dumber, or should I have just been born with more money?

@cmorris Uh, this is not at all what I learned in school. I was taught that men were far more likely to be hunters because it was a dangerous job and men were more expendable (because they don't bear children), and pregnant women needed to stay behind in safety.

Not that "men evolved to be physically superior" and hunted "to the exclusion of women". That sounds like something from a religious textbook.

@design_law I don't think anyone who works for Amazon ever talks to humans. They contract that out.

I once tried to inform them that one of their sellers was suing me for a bad review and they still couldn't get me in touch with someone who actually had any power to act.

@mbonsma So, great, there are no cars nearby, but you just trampled Mrs. Henry's flower bed, caused a bicycler to have to swerve and run into a fence, and then fell down a manhole and broke both legs.

Watch where you're going.

Ahhhh yess. Legislation making it harder to be a landlord. Good.

This is not sarcasm. Air BnB(et all) is a blight.

Tldr. BC just banned the most popular use of the app. Now it has to be the owners primary residence. So all the secondary units need to be leased out as long term rentals, or put back on the market for sale.

Related. Vacant dwelling insurance aint cheap. Theres also specialty "vacant dwelling" tax.

Your guide to understanding today's Speaker vote: There are no moderate House Republicans. There are proud MAGA and scared MAGA. That is all.

Google: "We've heard your unprecedented outcry about our decision to sell the beloved Google Domains to a subpar company. In response, we've now decided to sell Google Fonts to Ubisoft. From now on, you'll be able to find all of your favorite fonts on UbiFonts .com for only $19.49 per font per year. Keep bitching and we'll sell Maps to Elon."

Hackers are now storing malicious code on the #blockchain to make sure their toxicity can't be censored. A great example of how blockchain really only has a use-case for criminals, and how centralized systems would delete this content. Explain me why anybody in their right mind should use blockchain?

@jeffowski The house that gives books instead of candy is definitely getting egged.

@SecurityWriter That's true, the game incentivizes finding everything through multiple visits, or repetition, than all at once, or "before moving on."

That said, though, I thought I had learned everything in single player... but when I switched to the multiplayer, I discovered how wrong I was. There were hidden paths I hadn't even imagined.

The game has also gotten some nice content and quality-of-life updates (it was pretty janky on release), including new expanded endings, so if you're looking for something to scratch that itch, it may be worth revisiting.

@SecurityWriter Also a big fan of those games.

If you like those, I highly recommend "Deathloop". It's also a game that's essentially a puzzle solved by killing virtual people just right, but it's got a second layer that provides infinite replayability once you've learned every nook and cranny of the maps: an online asymmetric cat-and-mouse hunt where you put the skills you've mastered in single-player against another human.

I usually can't stand online gaming, but I can't get enough of this one.
