USPOL

I know people have said "both parties are as bad as the other", but it's still especially disappointing to discover that America doesn't have a viable anti-war-crime political party.

@TechDesk ...so they slapped him on the wrist.

Nice of them to show the world how toothless they are.

@Cefr @Illuminatus @emilygorcenski Right, but even then, that shouldn't happen often. If a SysAdmin gets these calls every week, that's another sign that it's time to find a job with better management.

The promise "Never Again" has lost all its meaning. Once again, a major genocide is unfolding, and even calling it that can get you marginalized or attacked.

@emilygorcenski No, it's brilliant. Because I definitely wouldn't respond until the next morning, and that would save me from being hired at a company that fundamentally opposes a healthy work-life balance.

code helpers don't always work great, but when you're doing something repetitive and they can figure out entire method bodies perfectly on their own, it's just *chef's kiss*

@jeffowski @Allkinds That's only partly true. Yes, it does have a moderating effect where you generally aren't hungry unless you toke, but once you do, you'll still have an appetite far exceeding that of someone who is not a user at all. More importantly, usage suppresses feelings of fullness, and that doesn't seem to change between recreational and habitual users.

@Allkinds @jeffowski Also, the munchies are very much not good for chronic health.

You might be able to blame the weight problem on funyuns and cola, but we all know those are only there because of the weed, lol.

@darrenmorin @RickiTarr The second two don't *quite* reach the horrible heights of the first, but they are certainly worthy successors.

@erimichkea @RickiTarr Half the adults who read it as kids still tremble at its name. The other half have managed to block the memory, but risk insanity upon seeing the cover as it all comes flooding back.

@RickiTarr This is just straight-up nightmare fuel for children, and the illustrations make it all the worse.

I wonder if anyone has created an "AI" assistant that just acts as a bot that reposts their question into an appropriate Discord server and then spits back the responses from helpful users to the person who issued the query.

Sometimes I think "I should watch local news to stay in touch" but then I see ads for local news segments like "Campus Chaos" (kids are driving fast at a high school) and I realize I'm much better off without that in my life.

This looks so much like an evil trap, but I would still so fall for it.
