During this same period, we also saw the rise of the 24 hour news cycle that started putting every mass shooter's name and picture on national TV as a reward for killing people.

Personally, I think that was a little more responsible than the ban that only applied to manufacturers, not owners.

I've always heard how good The Sopranos is, so I'm finally giving it a proper shot. While it definitely has some good moments, it also has a lot of really boring side storylines (did anyone really GAF about that whole writing/acting arc for Chris in S2?). Ultimately, the pacing just feels way too slow and the show feels like it's alternating between Goodfellas and a shitty soap opera.

The whole "[city name] strong" thing that happens after every mass shooting pisses me off.

I get that it's supposed to be a symbol of solidarity, but its mad-lib nature and commanding tone just sound more like a crass and hollow demand for people to shut up and cope.

The fact that every city just slaps their name onto the same brand formula just reinforces that notion.

It's frankly embarrassing how many serious dramas that are not about acting include scenes where a character takes an acting lesson in a basement studio.
