🇦🇺🇺🇦Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, Australia has provided almost 1 billion Australian dollars in aid to Ukraine. In particular, 730 million is military aid.

This was announced by Australia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Bruce Edwards during a meeting in Kyiv with the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stanislav Heyder.

🔊"Our help and support to Ukraine is a moral obligation and national interest of Australia. What is going on in Europe can happen in the Pacific region. Therefore, all countries should see the consequences they may face in the event of an attack, and understand the importance of cooperation between friendly countries in this context," said Bruce Edwards.

Stanislav Heyder, on behalf of the Minister of Defense, thanked the Government and the people of Australia for effective assistance and a proactive position in support of Ukraine and the entire civilized world.

He told his Australian colleagues about the priorities in the work of the defense department, which are implemented at the system level.

🔊"In December 2023, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine will present a plan for deep transformation of the Defense Forces. Rustem Umyerov's position is to build an institution capable of becoming effective and resistant to challenges. We are aware of all the challenges facing us, but we also clearly understand what we are fighting for. Time is the greatest value that we have no right to lose ," Stanislav Heyder noted.

Ambassador Bruce Edwards expressed his admiration for the bravery of the Ukrainian people and their desire to win in the fight against the Russian aggressor.

"You are faced with a powerful challenge - to implement a series of changes at a time when the war is ongoing. Ukrainians sacrifice their lives for the sake of the free world, for the sake of democracy. I want to assure you that you will not be alone in this war ," the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia emphasized.

🇫🇮 The Speaker of the Parliament of Finland addressed the Council in Ukrainian

Jussi Halla-aho began by reminding that Finland in 1939 faced the same imperial aggression of the USSR as Ukraine now, and on February 24 the Finns remembered this past well.

He reminded that Finland has already handed over 20 packages of military aid to Ukraine and will continue the support as long as necessary.

Halla-aho also touched on the issue of the Holodomor. He explained that, for formal reasons, the Finnish Parliament never issues declarations on historical events and does not even have a procedure for this, but last week the leaders of the factions with the majority of deputies signed a joint statement that they see grounds to consider the Holodomor a genocide of the Ukrainian people by the Soviet authorities .

We will remind, Russian propagandists Halla-aho was remembered for the fact that he ordered an inscription on a Ukrainian projectile for a donation

Ukraine now in full control of Kherson Oblast’s left bank, forcing Russians to flee from reinforced ‘Surovikin' - The New Voice of Ukraine

Ukrainian forces have gained control of the Dnipro left bank’s floodplain in Kherson Oblast, forcing the Russians to build new defensive lines on hills farther from the river, former Aidar Battalion company commander Yevhen Dykyi stated.

"In fact, the Dnipro floodplain is effectively under Ukrainian control. And now the Russians are trying to prevent any further steps.

They have essentially ceded the floodplain to us, but they are trying to dig in and fortify themselves where the terrain begins to rise.

Although it's not accurate to call them hills, there is a slight elevation compared to the mostly flat terrain. At the moment, they are trying to dig in, fortify themselves, and establish some sort of defensive line along this elevation," Dykyi said, noting that the Russians have nothing similar to the so-called Surovikin defensive line.

"They built the Surovikin line for nine months, and now no one is giving them that much time, not even close. That's why, if we use World War II comparisons from time to time, we can say that our ’Normandy landing’ has already happened, and now, let's say, our Ardennes is ahead of us. That is, to break through from the beaches, so to speak, ‘from Normandy,’ in our case, from the Dnipro River floodplain, to break through into a wide operational space."

Note: In other reports the enemy is trying to regain the positions near Krynky, and also advanced to the western part, with AFU currently on the defensive. The battles in this area are ongoing and there are ebbs and flows.

The Russian government extended the age limit for conscription to 30 - effective from January 1, 2024.

These changes were approved on Friday, November 24, as a result of the adoption of the relevant legislation by the Russian parliament, Interfax reported.

Now, men aged 18 to 30 will be enlisted from the beginning of 2024, while previously, the maximum age was 27.

Alexei Tabalov, director of Shkola Prizyvnika (“Conscript School”), told The Insider that the age of conscription increase will impact two million Russians, shifting the country into a “military mode of existence.”

According to Tabalov, the new laws will enable the state to expand the pool of potential contract soldiers, while the men now fighting in Ukraine will be able to stay at the front line even longer.

“Certainly, the adoption of this bill and other changes, such as increasing the deadline for being in the mobilization reserve, increasing the term of conscription for compulsory service — all this indicates that Russia is preparing for a protracted and long military confrontation not only with Ukraine, but also with the entire Western world.

In general, the state and society are being shiften to a military mode of existence. Increasing the reserve age by five years allows the state to keep people at the front for longer periods, avoiding dismissals of those aged 50 and above, and also expands the pool of mobilized and potential contract soldiers.

Igor Efremov, a researcher at the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy states:

Based on current population statistics in 2022 (excluding migration from 2022), there are approximately 6.78 million potential conscripts. By 2024, this number is expected to reach 6.8 million, according to Efremov.

When the draft age is increased to 30 years in 2024, the number of potential conscripts will amount to 9.14 million people, followed by 9.13 million in 2025, 9.16 million in 2026, 9.28 million in 2027, eventually growing to 9.9 million people by 2030.
