@twizzay Welp, have to bring in the car now. Nothing you can do.
@interfluidity @b0rk Hm yeah, working together is a great way to learn.
From what i saw, getting into a screen sharing meeting with others can work very well, it just has a much higher hurdle to overcome to start.
@BernieDoesIt @Alice This would imply that part of the question / an explanation that changes the meaning was left out and should be given by an instructor. Did i understand that correctly?
I'm going to need some #cybersecurity help... my son is currently looking for a Technical Writer position and almost got scammed by a guy by the name of Jason Torres, posing as a recruiter for a company called Futurex.
He emailed him under jasont@futurexcareers.org.
The scam was very elaborate and included documents such as this one.
I immediately smelled a rat and told him to call said company who verified of course that it was not only a scam, but I was far from the only target.
@FrankPasquale Interesting, so the point is "Tinder users no more intelligent than pidgeons"?
@interfluidity Reminds me of certain spam emails i had gotten. There must be some expectation of profit, since there was no reason to contact me otherwise... but no link i could click on, nothing in the whole email i could fall for in any way. Those are the most peculiar ones.
@freemo @AlphaKiloPapa Oh hush, you don't need makeup :-)
@PippiPunkstrumpf @daswarkeinhuhn Wollte auch grad schon was antworten, aber ich denk du machst das besser als ich es könnte. Ihr schafft das!
@Hyolobrika I gotta check myself here, maybe you can help:
My main goal right now would be listening and understanding, but i see that i am explaining my position a lot. Should that in any way make you feel like you can't explain yours, please let me know so i can reign myself in.
@Hyolobrika And i generally think such a thing is a fantasy. I would not trust someone who owns a billion or more - out of the simple consideration that amassing such wealth makes clear that any contact to the reality of normal people or empathy for them must have been lost.
A big problem, especially looking at the US, is position politics. Put people into camps, say the other camp is like this and that, without considering the actual topic of discussions. It gets worse here, too.
This is a prime example of position instead of content - group someone without ethics into the "enemy" camp.
As a result, people that believe this sound unconvincing to me.
Add to that that no actual medical studies are cited, and you got my point.
@Hyolobrika A reasonable point, but i still wonder if no news that are close to studies or cite experienced doctors made theirr way to you?
@Hyolobrika That is not a given. It is a tool, and as such it can be used in reasonable ways, in destructive ways and also misused doing harm even if there was no bad intention. Just as any other tool.
What always strikes me in discussion about tools is that the discussion about goals and what can be achieved without new tools is omitted - see "let problems fester".
@twizzay How good is your marlon brando impression?
@jeffcliff Just saw a toot calling out twitter users for generating revenue by their presence there.
That made me wonder: is that still true if you go there with ad block on? Since there are many possibilities to calculate views/page impressions/... i must say i have no basis to answer that. Do you have any hint?
I mean... i'm assuming you don't go there without protection. 90%+ of the internet is unusable without adblock, right?
@Hyolobrika @dave Never worry what "ai" does, it is not intelligent. There's always a human behind it, using it for some purpose.
@daswarkeinhuhn Hihi, hat dir da jemand "bad faith" auf was geantwortet?
@Hyolobrika Well it is understandable to shy away from things that get pushed onto you.
Over the time since covid hit, i saw many articles that very closely reported on scientific studies and saw many doctors cited. The overwhelming majority of that was positive towards the vaccines (not saying they make you immune, but that they greatly enhance your chances of getting through an infection without lasting effects).
Some few negative voices, without fail in a tone that raised red flags with me.
So did you get any such things, directly on the vaccines? After all, that's the main point, are they good or not. The scepticism about any gouvernment issued info we share anyway.
I speak german and english.

If i reply but did not favourite your toot: most likely i forgot. I get caught up in talking, i forget.
I generally invite questions. If you look for a clue if it is ok to ask hard questions: this is it. As long as it is in good faith and you want to know wtf i was thinking, go ahead please.
