Hello world!
I have been studying cilia since 2005, been modestly active on Twitter since 2014 and will be posting about anything related to #cilia, #signaling, #BardetBiedlSyndrome

"Recognize that patience is a luxury of the majority. Those in the majority who are not overly burdened by DEIB barriers have the privilege to wait for change [4]. Unfortunately, that is not the reality for those in the minority. Try addressing this by brainstorming solutions for both the immediate and distant future."

"William Hogarth’s Satire on False Perspective (1754), engraved by Luke Sullivan, offers an Escher-like array of impossible lines and vanishing points: a man lights his pipe from a distant candle; a flock of sheep grow bigger as they recede round a corner; a foreground flag disappears behind a distant tree, and many more."

We spent quite some time discussing a proposal for citation format for preprints with reviews. #RecognizingPreprintReview

Some of you may have seen Elon Musk's endorsement of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s crazy antivax conspiracy theories today.

Over at post.news, I just posted a long-form piece about this, and about how science education needs to adapt to online disinformation.

Please a look. If you like it, boost it there or here or — if you dare — over on the birdsite.

#Introduction: I am an Associate Professor at UNC Charlotte studying the connection between #protein folding and disease.

When proteins are made in the cell, they come out as a string of amino acids. To function in the cell, this string needs to fold into a complex 3D shape. Many of our proteins need help to fold correctly. This is where molecular #chaperones come in. These proteins work as custodians of the cell by folding proteins. We work on the Hsp70 chaperone in yeast and cancer cells.

ok #introduction I'm an evolutionary biologist and behavioral ecologist studying how social interactions lead to biodiversity. I'm big on social selection, polymorphism, color, genetics and teaching/course development (queer bio woo!).

My main study organisms are hummingbirds, especially white-necked jacobins (Florisuga mellivora), which have female polymorphism -- 20% females look like males, while the rest look different. I love them 💓

Hello! I am a #scientist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital who studies mechanisms of intercellular communication. My lab is particularly interested in how Sonic #hedgehog signals are sent, received, and interpreted during #development. We are working to improve imaging techniques to visualize SHH signal transport through #cytonemes. We also have projects focused on #Cilia and GLI #transcription factors. Posting about the #lab , #mentoring , and the occasional hedgehog joke 🦔

Excited for an 👋!

📝 We are Penn NeuroKnow, a blog run by PhD students in the University of Pennsylvania’s Neuroscience Graduate Group.

👩‍🔬 👨‍🔬 Our goal is to share our love of neuroscience with you all. Each post breaks down a different topic in neuroscience, ranging from general neuroscience knowledge to summaries of exciting new studies that are changing how we think about the brain.

🧠 Recent topics have included why we get the hiccups, how the octopus controls its arms, and how neuroscientists are starting to realize that what they thought was noise might not actually be so noisy.

⏰ We’ll be sharing links to our latest posts with short summaries every Tuesday when they go live. We’re looking forward to sharing our posts and engaging with the community here!

Hi #introduction:

In my lab we study the structure and function of neuronal circuits underlying information processing and cognition using light, electrons and X-rays. #DynamicalConnectomics

#Introduction Hi all, I’m a developmental neurobiologist running a lab that uses brain #organoids to uncover mechanisms that make the human brain special. Follow me for interesting papers in this sphere, updates on our research, and fun science things I find along the way!

RORγt-lineage APCs: The Aire apparent

"Recent studies shed light on new populations and potential roles of Aire+ and RORγt+ antigen-presenting cells— including unique subsets with surprising properties—in immune homeostasis and host-microbe interactions...

the precise function, nomenclature, lineage, and inter relationship among these populations remain open for exploration and debate—making this a uniquely exciting time for this biology." #Immunology
