@cyrilpedia, it's disappointing of course, but there are SO many open questions about the basic biology of inducing and sustaining mucosal immune responses (hey, we still have jobs 😂). Many currently licensed mucosal vaccines are live attenuated: Ag specificity/availability, distinct immune cells, stromal remodeling, etc - many things to sort out. France is mandating clean air in the classrooms, requiring CO2 levels of 800 ppm. I hope this is rolled out in other countries. Apart from lowering #covid risks in the classroom, it will also address other respiratory issues. #CleanAir #COVID #SafeSchools

Dendritic Cells present antigens to T cells and provide signals that trigger their activation or promote tolerance.
In this review, we discuss “unconventional” DC functions that differentially contribute to regulate energy homeostasis and weight control.

A neat paper from José Pastor-Pareja and colleagues suggests that fly trans-Golgi is the gravitational center of the whole endomembrane system.

"Hundreds of billions of dollars are being spent across the globe on solar energy and wind power. But when the sun goes down, or the breezes become still, where will the electricity come from? Iberdrola’s giant project — which uses water and gravity to generate power on demand, and then pumps the water back to the upper reservoir when rates drop — is part of the solution."

As we begin the new year, let's take a look back out the Immunity covers of 2022! #CPWrapped2022 Thank you to everyone that contributed to the science and art that went into these wonderfully creative covers! What's your favorite?

A paper that I was not aware of in @embojournal that scientific editor @HVodermaier mentioned in the independent immortalisation discussion on the latest episode is the finding from Lackner, Karlseder et al in 2012 of a very interesting ALT system in

Excited to share our new collaborative study on host-response based screening for #viruses; we used the nasal antiviral response to find undiagnosed cases of #COVID and #influenza C virus in our patient population. “Replication speed is not constant but increases during S-phase of the cell cycle. Using genetic and pharmacological perturbations we are able to alter this acceleration of replication and conclude that DNA damage inflicted by the process of transcription limits the speed of replication during early S-phase. In late S-phase, during which less transcription occurs, replication accelerates and approaches its maximum” biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/20

Lego models of invertebrates: needs to reach 10,000 supporters to enter production.

“This set features four arthropod model organisms: the fruit fly #Drosophila melanogaster, the red flour beetle #Tribolium castaneum, the amphipod crustacean #Parhyale hawaiensis, and the two-spotted cricket #Gryllus bimaculatus.”

Here is how up-to-date public sequencing data in Canada's provinces is right now. Yes, public means shared in the global GISAID platform - because quickly sharing data internationally during the fourth year of a global pandemic is what matters, and I frankly do not care what is available in your local province's website.

Here are eight very different screenplays that I admire for very different reasons. Use them for inspiration or to better understand how to write a great screenplay that might get produced one day.
