@damieng
The effort that went into producing CGI for movies during the ‘80s (and early ‘90s) was immense. I supported a small team in Dublin, IE, who by ‘92-‘93 were using SG IRIS 4D wkstns. Small being abt 6 people. They laboured for smthg like 18mths to produce about 30secs of film.

I was quite surprised when a local device developer told me he had his hardware manufactured locally, by Nitronica, (BT24 8..)
Many years ago the site was part of the GPT/Plessey telecomms manufacturing network. Skills sustained and developed.

Similarly, the technique could exploit ADS-B (1090MHz) to identify ducting, from sources at altitude.

@calebhailey I found the Mastodon API really easy to use to make automated postings. I wrote a small utility to post alerts to mastodon using BASH and CURL Code and writeup available at github.com/jeff-luszcz/AISTrop

ATTENTION: There is now a mapping project for the #AfghanistanEarthquake response. This is a beginner-friendly project, but please do take the time to read the instructions! tasks.hotosm.org/projects/1565

Thank you, #MapSwipe mappers, your work has enabled more focused, faster mapping.

May I suggest you follow Tim Farrar, tmfassociates, for the reality on these ideas from Muskopolis.
BT’s trials with OneWeb providing backhaul from remote locations is much more plausible in UK (and for other telcos in northern Europe territories).

I understand that a similar capability to that out of EGAA operates out of EGWU but with a different contractor.

The past few days were a stark reminder of how unbelievably more toxic Twitter/X has become and how it’s lost most of its utility as a political communications platform. I wrote this a while ago - I think it’s still relevant:

One of the Trump White House photog’s took a great image of the ACB nomination reception in the WH Rose Garden (I believe it’s on Flickr). ‘Great’ because of the characters who were seen together ‘in plain sight’. I suspect characters named in this article may be recognised in that gathering (Boyden Gray was).

A P.68, at first glance I thought an Islander/Defender. Draken operate BN-2s hereabouts out of EGAA, allegedly for SIGINT on cellular networks.

How to Leave X

Some of the best tips I've seen for transitioning to Mastodon.

Don't delete your X account; instead go Mastodon-first, meaning:
1. Open Mastodon before X
2. Post new content to Mastodon before X
3. Engage replies on Mastodon before X
4. Keep using X but as a lurker; reply less, follow less.
5. Post teasers on X ("My thoughts on ABC are posted on Mastodon. Username in bio.")
6. Occasionally post on X that you're now on Mastodon, otherwise your absence is less noticed.

The exceptionalists don’t seem to have an issue with Ferrari, Lamborghini, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, etc.

There was a time when the handset was rented, as line equipment, not owned.
An initial stage of deregulation was a common, nationally specified (not global!), connector for compliant handsets.

Used as the console for an Intel 330, later 310, iRMX ‘microcomputer’ which acted as the controller node for IMAGE visual systems on flight simulator.
