@Miro_Collas Some things in life are quite simple. If you punch a random Jew, you are an antisemite. Scream abuse at a random Jew, and you are an antisemite. Substitute "Jew" with another targeted group, and similar applies.

@Shobeck The candidates' own campaigns are largely about them, not Wales.

So Britain's self-styled "first green Chancellor" takes climate sceptic money, then drops £28bn pledge? What's next, just abandon net zero altogether? Never been more vital to have Green MPs.

@Shobeck No. The issue here is the identity politics of politicians and campaign focus on such, when the issues of concern to Welsh voters are somewhat more mundane.

@oatmeal @israel @palestine Physically attacking or verbally abusing Jews is antisemitism.

@Miro_Collas Physically attacking or verbally abusing Jews is antisemitism. That, at least, is really quite simple.

"UK antisemitic hate incidents hit new high in 2023, says charity"

Even the off-high numbers are staggering.

@Shobeck Because, for the most part, they won't give a toss about their national leader's ethnicity or sexual orientation.

I'm tired of sitting through #science talks where all plots are properly credited but artist's impressions and photographs aren't.

As a researcher and astrophotographer who works with super talented artists, this attitude really bothers me.

You study galaxies at the dawn of time. You look for biomarkers in the atmospheres of distant planets. You can most definitely find who made that cool image you just pasted in your slides.

To those who do credit #art : you're awesome 🤗

NY Times - President Biden today shielded thousands of Palestinians in the US from deportation for the next 18 months, using an obscure immigration authority. nytimes.com/2024/02/14/us/poli

Going by their media interviews, the internal Labour party contest to be the next Welsh premier is between the only gay in the village and the sole black man in Cardiff. The country's voters won't be impressed.

There's also nothing preventing people from taking photos at a nude beach for example. Does that make it ok? Of course not. But by tech bro logic it would on the people at the beach to put up walls and check everyone's bags for cameras.

Your neighbour is going through your mail while you're at work? Tough luck. Why didn't you buy a high-security mailbox?

Someone used your open-source code in a way that the license doesn't permit? Guess you'll have to pay a lawyer for an extended period of time to get that settled, sucker.

Someone is recording conversations you have with a partner while you're outdoors? Silly you! Should have stayed inside with the curtains closed for any semblance of privacy.

This "anything goes unless made impossible" logic falls apart at the slightest examination. It's obviously not how human societies work at all. Yet, these people expect that they get a free pass on whatever they think is a good idea.

At first glance, I don't... detest #Mozilla's announcements.

I get they're trying to diversify, so they threw a bunch of spaghetti at the wall. Some stuck, some didn't. Seems pretty normal when going through a phase like that, no?

VPNs? Email relays? Saturated markets, tough to compete, makes sense to scale back. 3D worlds? Companies much larger have tried and failed, makes sense to drop it.

Mastodon instance? How many people do you need to run one? Scaling back probably makes sense too. 🤷🏻‍♂️
