I actually think that the local vs. federated issues would be attractive for many things.

It would be interesting to contrast fediverse with matrix/element features as well.

I used to work for a US enterprise in Germany. It was always fun when we got new management to see the new managers bully people, get hauled into court, and then find out that there are laws in Europe.

Only thing I would change in your statement is that "this country" is too narrow.

Trump and Elon #politics

Maybe it's just me, but the Elon story reminds me too much of the Trump story.

Remember in early Trump presidency when everyone kept giving him the benefit of the doubt? Coming up with explanations for why he was a maniac? I myself, in the beginning, thought, well, he has dementia. That explains his craziness. My mother had dementia and I projected that onto him.

I see the same with Elon. Let's just skip to the truth. Elon has severe psychological problems. He is a liar, a cheat, with no empathy. He is a fake, a charlatan. He is a malignant narcissist like Trump. He doesn't care about anyone but himself. He doesn't care about who he hurts. And he will burn it all down in service to his narcissim.

Just like Trump is willing to burn this country down.

Just skip to the truth.

Or should we put up a twitter poll suggesting that Musk donate Twitter to the ACLU? Yes or No.

After all, I mean "Vox populi, vox dei." If we win a poll, that means it is a fair and binding decision. Isn't it? He has to follow it, right?

@intelwire I think he is trying to mimic the business success of 8chan

@mathew @vitaminsludge @lauren @davidgerard @rrb What Musk is doing at Twitter could have happened with Trump in the WH if we hadn’t had the entire US Government in place as a guardrail. It wasn’t 100% effective, but can you imagine the harm that could have been unleashed if Trump, like Musk now, had no one to stop him? The similarities between the two are chilling.

@rrb @davidgerard @vitaminsludge These are, in a significant way, irrelevant distinctions between the two. Both of the same cloth overall. That's what really matters.

I would say: impulsive is a draw between the two. There is no impulse control.

Trump seems more juvenile to me because of his single digit IQ.

Musk is more dangerous, because he does have raw (math/logic) intelligence.

Both have no empathy and no emotional intelligence.
