@ai6yr $1 a pound, eh? Maybe I should start a business. Could offer wet maceration like the NSA uses in-house -- for an upcharge, of course.

Okay, ponied up $1 per pound for shredding, although my pile of stuff-to-be-shredded sitting in bags at the store (waiting for them to stuff it into their shredding bins) seems non-ideal from a security standpoint. #cleanup

@marathon0 Yeah, my Friendica instance was having problems and was going to be shut down. When I went searching for a solution, I realized that I was spoiled by using a platform that federated with both Diaspora and Mastodon.

I abandoned Friendica and moved to Glasswings for my Diaspora instance and a Mastodon instance in Canada. After a while I realized that my Mastodon instance was okay but had certain limitations that occasionally annoyed me.

When the Twitter collapse began I searched for a better Mastodon instance and moved here to qoto that has none of the limitations of my old instance. I've been a happy camper ever since.

@marathon0 Yes. The continued existence of our atmosphere depends on our star behaving itself. On the other hand, since our atmosphere has been here for a billion years, we know that our sun is very steady and stable. The sun has active periods and occasional outbursts but nothing that would strip away the atmosphere.

@gsuberland Ah, yes. Early 70s, big 48 and 64-pin ceramic DIPs, all gold plated, PMOS. Power supply provided -28V, -14V, ground, and +12V. Hahaha.

@Cbfoley @GardenOfEden@mstdn.social Same here. Working as a chef, especially in the summer, I need to drink a lot of fluids. I don't drink soft drinks except once in a while so I drink iced tea. I make it by the gallon and keep 2 to 3 gallons always ready to go in the refrigerator. When I was a kid, if you ordered iced tea in a restaurant you got unsweetened tea and you put your own sugar in.

Nowadays, what people (in the US) expect and what we serve in the restaurant is "Southern sweet tea" which is heavily sugared. The tea I make for myself has one sixth the amount of sugar of the tea we serve to customers and it's plenty sweet, in my opinion. I also flavor my tea when I brew it so it vaguely resembles chai tea.

@Cbfoley @GardenOfEden@mstdn.social Aha! Good to know that it was that simple. It's been quite a while since it was in the news.

Yeah, most everything in the U.S.A. has excessive sugar including things that you wouldn't expect to have sugar at all like mayonnaise. Have to read the label, which most people don't.

@cobalt Aha! Just as I was about to pull the plug and head to bed, there you are. Welcome to Mastodon!

In case you don’t believe the same equations govern #motion in the #atmosphere and the #ocean.

@Cbfoley @GardenOfEden@mstdn.social That was the Subway case. As I remember it was even worse than that. The "bread" is apparently made in an industrial process that doesn't qualify as bread in Ireland. It looks like bread but it's not. So they can't call it bread. Hahahaha.

@GardenOfEden@mstdn.social If memory serves, both McDonalds and Subway found out the hard way that Irish courts refuse to be bullied.

@jasonbrooks Only picked up two and one of those was a change of instance. Still, it's worth it even for one.

If you're joining Post, keep in mind that it's against their Terms of Service to criticise billionaires.

At the same time they don't care about disabled people.

@jasonbrooks I haven't run it in a long time. I figured the well was dry. I'd better check again.

@Just_Some_Guy That's an old pump right there. Although I remember when that design was new. Lol.
